Thai By Thai and Poon Poon — Restaurant in England

Normally, I cant fault the service and food, but since they have moved into the new Chester Market, it has been very poor in terms of service and food. On one occasion, we went in at 12 noon, expecting to be ready to serve, unlike all other food units who were ready at 11am, but we were asked if we could come back again at 1pm...and even then, they were not prepared. We just ended up looking elsewhere instead.

Whilst I didn't visit 'Thai by Thai' for after 6 months, since that time, we decided to give them a second chance. I highly recommend the Tom Kai Gai (chicken) soup - a nice thick broth soup with coconut cream and the lemongrass, gives off the lovely perfume smell and taste of this lovely soup, especially when you chew into the shoots. If you're expecting the Thai Red Curry to be spicy, you would be so disappointed in this. I know that a traditional Thai curry usually gets to the back of your throat with its spices...this did nothing for me and all I could taste was aniseed. I used to really love this place when the market had opened. However recently I have had such awful experiences that I felt the need to write a review. The staff have been quite rude when taking orders and when I or my boyfriend have gone to pick up our food they just shove the food towards us and rudely take the buzzer from you. This I can look past as I know hospitality is hard work and I tend to come in later in the day. Their customer service is horrible. Me and my family went to Thai food and the two ladies in the front didn’t even acknowledged us, we then asked if any of their food is vegan and they replied with a very rude manner that everything can be vegan and then when we chose one of them they said it had eggs… we finally chose one from the menu. But overall experience is very not welcoming even if their food was not bad. I am disappointed with the over all experience because me and my family are in Chester for a New Year...
