I have been going to browns for the past 5 years with large groups of people, spent loads of money and never had a problem We booked a table 4 months in advance for a friends birthday What an unpleasant experience we had We arrived at 4pm for drinks first then dinner for 7.30pm When we ordered drinks at the bar the barmaid was so rude !!! When we had drinks brought over to the table the barmaid ended up dropping them over 2 of our party without an apology Then at 7pm a member of staff came over to our table a threw down loudly a reserved sign and rudely said you must leave we explained that we had a table booked but she walked away, so we did complained and a member of staff politely came over and apologised saying he would seat us at the best table The table was in a good position but there was no tablecloth on the table, we had to ask for xmas crackers it was like we were an after thought even though we booked months ago The food well!!!!!! the roast potatoes were uncooked and so was the veg, the turkey was like leather so disappointing. After we had dinner we tried to order a round of drinks to be told that a member of our party looked like they had enough to drink and refused to serve us
This is a complete joke as the person they were talking about was no way drunk we were a group of professionals in our sixties we didn't even leave our table there were large group of people in Browns that night enjoying their xmas party that were loud and so they should I am appalled that we were treated like this if we were drunk and rowdy i would understand but this was certainly not the case !!!!! This was all because we complained earlier !!!! We were set up by the bar staff Our whole night was ruined I will never bring my staff, friends or family to this...
Read moreVisited this evening for my daughters birthday. We were a party of 15 friends and family and asked to split the bill as is normally done or you would think was a simple task. The first waiter was very patient and made sure he put names against each bill, very patient. The waiter was switched just before we ordered food and the new waiter laughed at the fact the bill was being split stating it was extremely difficult and not something normally done. We were made to feel we were in a class below their expected clientele and I have never be n made to feel that way before anywhere. I have used this restaurant many times both personally with family and corporately as work and live in Tower Hamlets and have brought my team there for Christmas lunch two years in a row. When I complained to the manager, he said we were rude to the waiter for expecting him to split the bill and it was not the norm. I would never revisit this restaurant and paid the £140 drinks bill asking for the service charge to be removed and we left to go elsewhere. I can’t say I’ve ever experienced such poor service and been laughed at and made to feel like a no one. I would have thought that the business would want the money from 15 customers as opposed to nothing at all and for the manager to take the side of a waiter without even being in the room and experiencing how he made us feel Was wrong. Previously a lovely restaurant but one bad experience can lose you custom as I would never spend my money...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer for 8 years, but the service and value for money have declined significantly. I used to visit for family events and special occasions.
The decor is modern and clean, with tables spaced well apart for comfort.
Service can be inconsistent, with some servers being less friendly than others. There’s often confusion when there are either too many servers rushing around or not enough customers to serve.
The menu has seen a noticeable drop in portion sizes, flavor, and freshness. For instance, the chicken schnitzel feels reheated and dry, the fried egg tastes stale with a microwaved texture, and the salad is only redeemed by the fresh rocket. The chicken skewers starter, which used to feature two full sticks, is now reduced to nugget-sized portions.
What’s worse is that this decline in quality and freshness has come with increased prices. A lunch for two, without dessert or alcohol, now costs nearly £80. The included 10% service charge only adds to the frustration, making it poor value for money.
Regrettably, despite its charms, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere to pubs, cafes, and carveries that offer better quality at 40-50% lower costs. At present, I cannot recommend this place, as there are far better...
