I visited your restaurant today and was served by a staff member named Vera. (To note, I did not look at her name tag during this conversation but I did ask two other members of staff what her name was and both told me Vera, she was wearing a red stripy top on the 6th of April) Unfortunately, my experience with her was deeply disappointing and left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable.
When my food arrived, I noticed the portion of coleslaw on my plate was extremely small (something that has happened on a previous visit as well). On that occasion, I politely asked for a bit more and was given it without any issue. Naturally, I assumed the same would apply this time.
I politely asked Vera if it might be possible to receive a little more coleslaw, and her reaction was shockingly rude. She looked at me with what I can only describe as a dirty, dismissive look almost as if I had said something offensive or unreasonable. I explained again that I’d experienced this before and was simply wondering if she could check whether a small extra portion would be possible.
Rather than respond with even basic courtesy, she continued to give me disapproving looks and firmly said, “No, this is the portion size. You can’t get any more.” When I calmly pointed out that this hadn’t been an issue previously, she doubled down, repeatedly shaking her head and insisting that it’s never allowed (which simply isn’t true based on my past visits).
I then asked politely “is it possible to maybe ask someone else” Instead of replying, she gave me one look of absolute disgust, looked me up and down and walked away without a single word. To be honest I was genuinely stunned. She did eventually return and claimed that someone had confirmed I couldn’t be given any more. I thanked her for checking, but even then, her attitude was condescending and smug as though she was saying “I told you so.”
To make matters worse, my partner informed me that while my back was turned, Vera and another staff member were looking in our direction, whispering, pointing, laughing, and rolling their eyes. When my partner made eye contact with them, they quickly turned away clearly aware they had been caught.
This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable in any customer facing role. I left feeling uncomfortable, unwelcome, and disrespected. Vera’s attitude and unprofessionalism ruined what should have been a pleasant meal. I’ve been a loyal customer of your restaurant for some time, but after this experience, I’ll be reconsidering future visits unless I see a serious improvement in staff training and basic customer service standards.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I sincerely hope this...
Read moreTerrible attitudes from some of the staff here - I don’t usually like to complain about service as I understand everyone’s human, but one of the waitresses here is genuinely just rude. My friend and I, having waited by the entrance for several minutes to be sat at a table, noticed the restaurant was largely empty. There was no visible host stand or sign so we assumed Nando’s had moved towards a fast-food type seating arrangement. We therefore decided to sit at a table, adjacent to some other customers. A minute later, as we were viewing the menu on our phones, one of the waitresses comes over to us and tells us off for sitting on a four-seater table when we were a party of two. "You don’t sit here if you’re two! You don’t sit here! Where do you want to sit?! Where do you think you sit? NOT HERE!" - my friend and I got up and moved one table along immediately, at the waitress’s request, but I was appalled at the belittling way she shouted at us. Quite frankly, I felt as though I was back in school again being told off by a teacher, not at an establishment where I was paying to eat. We stayed as my friend was hungry, but this was by far the worst Nando’s...
Read moreOur first visit to Nando’s in Battersea was a fun and flavorful experience! This Portuguese-African-inspired restaurant lives up to its reputation for bold and exciting flavors.
Food: We tried the peri-peri chicken, corn, garlic bread, broccoli, and the butterfly peri-peri with Fanta hot sauce. Each dish was delicious, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. One of the highlights was experimenting with the different sauces, from hot to extra-extra-extra hot, and each had its own unique kick and character. They were all so good we kept coming back for more.
Drinks: The beverages were equally delightful. The iced peach tea and the strawberry dragonfruit drink were refreshing and balanced out the spiciness of the meal perfectly.
Experience: It was a fun dining experience that both my kids and I enjoyed. The casual and vibrant atmosphere, combined with the friendly service, made for a relaxed and memorable outing.
If you’re looking for a place with flavorful food, a great selection of sauces, and a lively vibe, Nando’s in Battersea is definitely worth a visit. We’ll definitely be coming...
