My experience at this establishment at first was very inviting and let me tell you the gm is an amazing customer service oriented man buuuut he is not on shift 24 hrs a day nor 7 days a week what makes this place so horrifying let me repeat that again horrifying in the week and a half i worked there was the profound amount of negligence the owner allowed to go there let me start by saying has anyone heard of cross contamination oops i guess i just did, or tge fact that if you order a milk shake with no whipped cream or cherry and somehow your order gave you the opposite they take it back in the window and scoop it off with their hand yes they use a glove but still thats messed up french fries that sit under a heat lamp too long i mean waaaay to long they fry up a huge new batch and mix them in tgey do the same thing with the burger after a busy lunch or dinner rush have a bunch of cooked up burgers laying on the side of the grill and when i say they sit there till they get used i watched and saw that meat get handled left out in the air and refries up 4 hrs later cuz he all of sudden remembered they were there So to say the least, the food is not cooked to order.And unless you've got the g, m, his name is Tao.Actually making your food.I wouldn't eat a thing there except a milk shake Now to go on to how the employees are treated by the owner. I went into work with the flu. I had 2 managers. I overheard about how they should send me home. But they were short-staffed and let me stay anyway. So I stayed and I stayed while I was sick. So at the beginning of my shift I was told I needed to clean out a sandwich unit where most of all the ingredients to put on the hamburgers is and I cut both of my knuckles open. There was blood all over the top of the thing, when I went to bandage myself up. I told them we needed to take all that food out of it. Throw it away in case blood got into it. You know what the manager did? She took a rag, wipe the blood off of it and then she kept serving out of it all night That eveningPeople quit walked out. There was only me and a grill operator and a manager. And the manager wasn't doing her work. So I was filling orders and it couldn't even go out the window so we had a backup drive through. A full dining room.I had orders all over the place and then the owner comes in and then starts giving me a hard time because I was sick and stayed at work and then he wanted me to stay for 5 hours over my shift and I refused And then fired me when I refused to work the extra hours while sick When I finally went to the Doctor the next day I was told that I had COVID-19 I told the owner that I was diagnosed with COVID-19 and that he needed to clean out his kitchen and quarantine anybody. That was working with me. They did not skip not 1 hour of business. The next day when I notified him that I had COVID and I was making people's food all the prior evening. I just got fired and then He told me that my money would come in on a pay card and that he would mail it to me as soon as he received it now.My Payday is supposed to come up in a couple of days.I have not received my paycard.He has not answered any of my phone calls and I guarantee you.He's going to mess with that as well. Though my paycheck which I still haven't received. The owner's name is Robert Miller. He is a big gluttonous black bald man who treats people like they are nothing Then somebody that worked for him is waiting for the money that they earned in his business and And he's gonna mess with somebody's livelihood. By messing with their money, he told me he'd mail it to me. I live right across the street from the restaurant. And I should have received that pay card over a week ago. So now he's gonna mess with my money too. What kind of person that supposed to be a professional business owner? Does that the somebody he just hired, who still came to work for him while they were sick, didn't walk out on the shift was bleeding out of my hand all night. He didn't clean it. This place is a joke last week I went to go eat inside the dinner after waiting 20 mins to be seated I waited another 15 mins to even see my server, it didn't end their I also had to wait another 10 just for my drinks. We placed our order and guess what WE WAITED ANOTHER HOUR, this whole hour we were waiting for our food we did not get one refil we didn't even see our server the entire time. Feeling pissed off and "hangry" me and my party stood up after making plans to leave and go somewhere else. The manager quickly noticed our attempt to departure so he made his way to us and asked us why we were leaving. I explained to him about the awful wait times and service and he asked us to stay for one minute so he could check on our order. He returned to us with quite the story- Apparently our order "was lost" and never began being prepared. At this moment I've already had enough and told him that I was not willing to wait and that we were leaving. He offered to pick up our bill on the house and assured me our order was being made and would be ready in less than 2 min. I had my nephew with me so I chose to stay knowing he was starving, so we stayed for the free meal. This place is always slow and never has good service. I have an obsession with the Nutella shake and I occasionally satisfy my cravings by stopping at the drive through to place an order to go. I've lived in altamonte all my life and have been coming to this steak and shake since it was here and have not once enjoyed my visit but the food is ok, it's cheap, and I love their shakes so I always find myself back here knowing it'll be a terrible experience. So today was another on of those days I went through the drive through I pulled up to the speaker and waited about two minutes, when I didn't receive a greeting I decided to start the ordering by speaking first "hello" I exclaimed and to no surprise I got a response from a young lady who didn't bother trying to hide her annoyed voice "one moment" she replied. And would you guess what?! I waited another 10 mins to just be able to speak to her and place my order. I asked for two thick Nutella shakes and pulled forward. I waited in line for another excruciating 15 minutes until I found my way to the front. The cashier took my money with no "hello", "how are you" or a thank you I got nothing. I'm used to the awful service so I ignored it, she brought me one shake, I grabbed it and waited for her to bring the second one I ordered and already paid for. "Ohhhh your other one" she said remembering she forgot my second shake. She closed the window and went to get the other one, I grabbed my shake and took a sip to test it out and it wasn't thick like I recalled asking it was all watered down and could pass for chocolate milk not a shake. So I waited for her to come back to tell her to make me another one, she came back and I told her it was watery and I wanted it thick, she grabbed my cup and turned away, again no "sorry about that" or "let me fix that for you" I got no customer service per usual. She brought the two shakes out and I checked them... STILL WATERY!!!! At this point I've already been at this excuse for a restaurant for an hour and had no energy to go back and forth with this rude cashier so I just left went home and threw the shakes in the freezer to make them thicker. I honestly can say I've had the last straw I come back time and time again waiting for a change because I do like the food but I am not going to continue spending my hard earned money to be treated like a pest. I love steak and shake but this one needs a whole 360, they need to fire the sloths they have working in the kitchen that take 1 hr to make fries and the management needs to take customer service classes, the staff just needs to be replaced all and all. Read moreWent there yesterday and there were only two servers working the entire restaurant. Our server, Daniel, was great. He worked well under pressure, given the amount of work he was doing. He was very attentive to our needs. However, we had an extremely long wait before receiving our food...of course our burgers were room temp and seemed to be sitting in the back for awhile. I could handle that, but had to send my warm fries back for hot fresh ones. Still, no real complaints from us...but, when i went to pay our bill, I stood at the register for over 5 minutes without being helped. A family of 5 then approached the register on the left of me, and were immediately approached by the female server "Jennifer"..they complained that they had been there for over two hours and were still awaiting their shakes. Jennifer apologized and told them they were being made at that time. She proceeded to take their payment. Note:I'm still standing there, and no one has even acknowledged my presence yet! Jennifer proceeds to cash them out. One of the young ladies in the paying party then asks me if I was waiting first..i stated, "yes" and told her I'd been waiting for quite some time. She proceeded, along with the other young lady to apologize for getting in front of me. I accepted their apology, and smiled. Note: Jennifer hasn't acknowledged my presence...still. By this time another customer was behind me in the "line:" After cashing the other family out, Jennifer literally looked around me, and told the man behind me that she would help him and took his receipt so that he could pay...still....never acknowleging my existence!!!! At that point, I waived my receipt up along with my debit card and said to Jennifer, "HEY! I'M STILL STANDING HERE!!!!! Her reply to me: "I KNOW,I SEE YOU"...... REALLY????? Now, I would like to point out that I rarely resort to this type of accusation, but, I'd like to point out that I was the only non-white person standing there. I will NEVER EVER darken the doors of Steak n Shake im Altamonte again. I felt completely degraded and embarrased due to her behavior. I have reported her racist behavior to the corporate office as well as the store itself. No person deserves to be treated in such a manner! I have let all my friends know what happened to me, and they have agreed to never go there as well. They will let their friends know, as well.
