I had stayed at his hotel pre-covid and loved it. The location is ideal and the rooms are big and our family fit comfortably. My most recent trip was not as enjoyable.
Our visit was set for Monday-Wednesday. I used the Hilton app to digital check in on Sunday as I usually do. Hilton offers a digital key which means you can completely bypass the front desk. We drove up from San Diego early Monday morning and intended to go straight to the parks. I stopped in at the front desk only to say that I had already checked in for the stay using the app but needed to verify that I as okay to park in the hotel parking lot prior to our room being ready. To my surprise I was told that I hadn't checked in through the app and that I needed to present my credit card. I haven't had to do this when I check in with the app since my card information is stored. They put a hold on my card for the cost of the stay (fine) plus $100/day for incidentals. I have been charged up to $100/STAY but never that price for each day. I only realized the excessive charge after I walked away. Also, at the time I added my husband to the reservation in case he needed to deal with the front desk during our stay.
Fast forward to later that evening when my husband and one of my kids left the park early and tried to pick up keys at the front desk. I had, many hours earlier, received a Hilton app notification that my room was ready. When my husband got to the hotel they told him that we had not checked in and that they would need to see a credit card. Luckily I had screenshots that we had checked in and that his name was listed on the reservation.
Probably the most irritating thing that happened was that our room did have a sleeper sofa as it was described on the Hilton app. I'll include a screenshot of the room description. So, after a long day at the parks in the heat, my daughter and I returned to the room and she did not have the bed as I had expected. I called down to the front desk and asked about the possibility of a roll away. I was told they didn't have any available. I got a call back with 5 minutes that they had located a cot but it would cost an additional $20/day. I was too tired to follow up at this point but knew something was off.
The next morning I stopped by the front desk to asked about the extra fees (excessive incidentals/day as well as the cot fee) . I was told that the fireworks view rooms do not have sleeper sofas. There is either false advertising or bait and switch happening here.
I usually do not stop by the front desk at check out since I can do everything on my app. This time I was so uncomfortable with their business practices that I made sure to check out and get a physical receipt. Pretty sad that I had so little faith that they wouldn't purposefully overcharge and hope that I wouldn't question it.
Needless to say, as convenient as the hotel is to the parks, we won't be back. I don't have respect for a business that uses shady practices to nickel and dime...
Read moreThe hotel was just okay. I am a former flight attendant and our airline partnered with Hilton for our overnights, so I have stayed in many, many, many Hilton hotels. I am still an Honours member and Hilton is usually my first choice of hotel. This one was lacking.
The room was okay and pretty spacious and the bed was relatively comfortable. Oddly the top sheet was placed above the comforter instead of underneath, to protect the comforter, so it does make me wonder how often the comforters are cleaned. The tv glitched within an hour of being in the room and would not allow us to have picture for the two nights we were there (we like to 'watch' tv to sleep with an off timer).
The parking fee ($35.00 before tax) was astronomical! More expensive than Disney in Florida even! Though they do have an underground parking structure with cameras, which felt safe.
We called on our way to the hotel to let them know that we would be late checking in due to other issues we had encountered and we were rushed off the phone (should have been a clue as to how we would be greeted). We arrived late, as we had indicated on the phone and we were clearly a disturbance and an interruption to the gentleman at the front desk. He gave us no information, rushed us through the process, we were not greeted as Hilton Honours members, no water and certainly no cookie (though I know not every Hilton does this). We were not even given the opportunity to provide our Honours number before being dismissed, so I am assuming we will not have the points for this stay added to our account. We weren't even told where the elevators were! We figured it out for ourselves.
We had previously been staying in another state and so used the laundry facility when we arrived. It was the most expensive hotel laundry I have ever used, but was clean and quick.
The biggest disappointment of all, there was no complimentary coffee in the lobby. Coffee was $5.00 each, for plain black coffee! I have never been to a Hilton without complimentary coffee in the morning. Most don't keep it through the day, but it has been available at every Hilton I have ever stayed at until at least 11am (most recently Hilton Canopy in London in January and Hilton Garden Inn in Tampa in July). To add insult to injury, after paying each day for coffee, the creamers were gone off. The first day my husband just topped off the coffee with half and half because he said it looked odd. The second day I was the one who prepared the drinks and when I opened the bottles, they were both gone off. I brought it to the attention of the young man at the bar and he seemed disinterested, took the creamer away and brought back another gone off creamer. At that point I gave up. What a waste of my money.
I so wish I had read reviews before booking. If you don't care about any of the above, then stay here for the...
Read moreThe location was just about the Best thing here!! But there was no breakfast served you had to go down there in HOPES of anything to eat, if you went down by 10am you were out of luck! They did not even leave coffee out like other Hotels, when asked about it they said they tried it and nobody was around during the day and so they were "Wasting" Coffee!! That is a JOKE WOW! ALSO I NEVER SEEN THE BAR OPEN!! This place Double billed us the day after we got there!!! But we were unable to get that straightened out until the Manager came back from her Vacation! She was very nice about it and comped us 1 day room charge because when we got in because our flight was delayed 4 1/2 hours we got in at like 4 am! So yeah that was the good part. But by Wednesday when that all happened we were in danger of our money being FROZEN because the Bank was wondering if it was a Fraud going on! The Television sucked it kept glitching and sound went off and on...also I had made a note in the reservation and we needed the refrigerator on because my husband had insulin....that was not done I had to turn it off and on and plug it in and unplug it to get it running!!! AT 4 AM!!! The bathroom has no fan in it and the A.C. would not stay on. The coffee creamer was so old it never disintegrated in the Hot Coffee, YUK! The Housekeepers and gentlemen cleaners were very kind and polite, I was happy with them. It was the Front desk that did not have their stuff together!!!
The POOL was beautiful, BUT NO SHADE OR AN UMBRELLA ANYWHERE!!! I got burned within an hour and it ruined my whole time there!!! The dresser drawers were all falling off the track in the dresser! Get this there was NO NOTEPADS OR PENS ANYWHERE!! Even when I asked the front desk, she just gave me a couple sheets of printer paper!! Whatever you do RESEARCH your Hotel!!! The place was advertised so well with so many" Good" Reviews....LIES!! I think they PAID some of their friends to write them!! It was a ridiculous amount of money we spent to stay there to have such bad things happening!! Research every last thing because this is a major point when looking for Hotels, especially close to Disney they all want to get as much money as they can from you, Disney is expensive enough you do not want to get ripped off EVER when you are visiting Family or on a Vacation like we were we lost a lot of money staying there and to have a bad experience was not worth it. Thank you...
