If you are anything other than Latino I strongly do not recommend patronizing this establishment. My husband and I tried this place out for dinner. We decided to sit at the bar as in theory it was faster than waiting for a table. The bar was filthy and sat there being ignored of service as Mexican customers walked up to the bar between us as we were seated, ordered and received drinks and walked away. A Mexican couple sat down at the bar a few chairs down from us and immediately received menus and were asked for their drink orders. I was appalled and should have left immediately but I was hungry and although I knew in that moment I wouldn’t be back, I decided to complete this visit as my first and last. That Caucasian young lady sitting next to me looks over and says to me “I have a feeling they don’t like serving everyone at this place, it took me over an hour to receive my food”. She flashed her phone at me as to show the current time was 8:55pm, then she stated I ordered at 7:00 before flagging down the waitress and asking for a to go container. I agreed and we began to converse about the poor treatment and customer service that we had both received. After that conversation and having some time to marinate on the rude seemingly racist treatment my husband and I were receiving, we decided to abort our visit without receiving our food. We flagged the waitress down after being seated for well over 15 minutes and asked for 2 house frozen margaritas and 2 shots. Her demeanor was rude and nasty. She acted as if we were bothering her. When she bought our drinks out she did not ask if we wanted a menu nor did she speak. She dropped the drinks and immediately walked to the other side of the bar so we sat there, finished our drinks as we waited for her to return only she never did. My husband flagged her down , politely asked for another round and a menu as if you should have to ask for a menu. Again, she brought the menus and proceeded to leave so we finished our second round of drinks and flagged her down to make our food order. The service was like pulling teeth although customers of latino ethnicity appeared to not be experiencing the same treatment. Concerned with the service we were receiving and after waiting well over an hour for our food and not being checked on even once voluntarily, we flagged down the waitress and asked to be cashed out. Here’s the kicker. We received a tab of $100 for our order of 4 house frozen margarita (served frozen out of the margarita machine in a short slim glass) and 4 shots of 1800 we had 2 house margaritas and 2 shots each. I will never return. $100 tab for the worst service I’ve ever received at a Mexican restaurant and I patronize them often as I love Mexican food. Avoid this place at all cost unless...
Read moreTraveled to Dallas, and the body was craving steak, however, had a bad experience with the place i went to initially and Googled restaurants"near me." Mariano's Hacienda came up, looked at the ratings, etc, and decided to give it a try. This was Tex-Mex food. First of all, the structure outside is clean and well maintained, and there's a sign claiming the first ever frozen margarita anywhere. Upon entering, it was quite busy, dinner time, and no reservations were required. I put my name on the waiting list and went directly to the bar while i waited. The bar area was small, with about 7-8 stools. Decided to have dinner there rather than in the dining room. Both bartenders were pleasant, professional, and definitely on the go. Especially because they had to tender to their area as well as dining room orders. Was served chips and salsa both mild and also with a little kick to it. I tried the house margarita on the rocks, generally no salt, and they recommended to order it w "tajin" some sort of red all purpose seasoning. I didn't like it. It's used more for cooking. Ordered a regular margarita.... Anyway, to start, i ordered the steak/ chicken nachos combo. The chips are large and filled with yellow/white cheese, tender steak/chicken strips accompanied with guac, carrots, pickled jalapeños, and sour cream. Delicious, well cooked, with the right seasoning. Good enough for 2 people. For the main course, i went with the fish tacos. Succulent, soft, no bones, accompanied with rice, cabbage/ lettuce, sautéed peppers, and a large sautéed jalapeño. The fish meat can't say it enough, AWESOME!!. I was already full, especially since i kept eating the chips/salsa from the start. A bit addictive. They were crunchy, and the salsa made a nice marriage to them. I was impressed with the food that i returned the next day to try the brisket tacos with the gravy on the side. Ridiculously tasty, and the brisket was shredded, tender, and the gravy was not thick at all enough to dunk the taco in or serve it on top inside the taco It came with rice, corn tortillas, a heap of beans in a small shell, and avocado. Didn't get to try any appetizer. One thing is certain in the 2 days i visited, the food is undeniably fresh, and tasty keeps anyone coming back for more. The service at the bar was slow, and i don't blame the bartenders because they were on the go. This caused my experience to be a 4.4. They were courteous and professional. I don't know how the dining room service is, but it's always busy. Fresh food, come...
Read moreI went there for my birthday. The food was amazing as always. I do have one huge problem that I've never had before. I was meeting my mom, my my sister, her husband, and I had my grandson with me, so there were going to be 5 of us. They would not seat us till 50% of the party was there. Make that make sense! 50% of 5? Seriously? There were several other extremely huge parties, well over 20 people there that day. Im not sure what was happening, but I know one was a Girl Scout Troop Leaders Reunion or something, because my mom (who was one at one point in her life) seemed to recognize about 5 of the women, so she went and talked to everyone and introduced my grandson to a more than willing audience, LOL. So, anyway, the other issue was with my waitress. This young lady got our order right, but then she never came back. She never refreshed our drinks, never took plates away, or asked if we wanted dessert. I had to waive her down and ask her for things. It was ridiculous. So besides the fact that this place is amazing and has a reputation for great recipes and a long-standing family friendly environment, and the fact they invented the frozen margarita machine, this particular location has a disadvantage of being hard to get to, since the highway has been redone, there is so much construction, that the huge sign they have is even easy to miss these days, unless you know what you're looking for. I don't think they're hurting for business, but with little jabs here and there of what I experienced today, this particular location of Mariano's can ill afford bad customer service. I seriously hope that management at this location can rally the waitstaff here to at least ACT like they like their jobs because I didn't see a single person smile the whole time I was there. Not even the hosts. The hosts made me feel like a burden. Had it not been for the fact that it was a pre-made plan, and this place was hard to get to, to begin with, I would have left right then, when they said 50% of my party had to be there. That's insane. But I'm glad we stayed because I chose this place for the bacon wrapped shrimp, and it never disappoints. It seemed like everyone else in my family was happy as well because there was not an empty plate at the table. The food is always great. It's the waitstaff and the host staff you have to worry about. They can ruin it for...
