I wanted to share my review of the Sleep Inn Arlington near Six Flags.
First off, I'm a Holiday Inn (IHG), Marriott, Hilton type of patron, but this weekend I wanted to take my family to Six Flags and stay over night so we could spend 2 days at the park. When I searched for a room, the big names I normally stay at wanted over $300/night. I just can't justify that price for a few hours of sleep.
So I searched the bargain price sites and found the Sleep Inn on Priceline for about $137/night.
The reviews for this hotel were mixed on Priceline and I didn't dig into them until after I booked the room.
After booking, I started to have buyers remorse. I started to check reviews on Google and got really concerned. There were really good reviews and really bad reviews. Some even hinted at fake reviews from the Hotel staff and mentions of roaches in the rooms.
I knew I booked a room that could not be cancelled so I decided to go ahead with the room knowing I only lived an hour away and could drive home if needed.
My first interaction with the Hotel was around 9:00 AM. I called the Hotel to verify my reservation and asked if we could check in early. The person on the phone said he would check and then came back and said he had rooms available and we could come at anytime and check in.
We arrived at the hotel around 1:30 PM and checked in with no problem. The woman at the desk was very nice and pleasant. There was another person there that appeared to be the manager or owner. I also saw a maintenance technician addressing issues with the manager as well.
As for the Hotel and Rooms. This is an older hotel, so please understand this is not a Holiday Inn, but it's not a Motel 6 or Super 8.
The room and hotel were clean, except the windows and mirrors. They tried to clean, but they were streaked and kind of foggy.
There were no signs of any insects (Roaches, bed bugs, etc.)
The rooms are small and the beds are full size not queen beds.
The vanity was separated from the toilet and shower. The shower is very small, but still adequate.
The room had a microwave and a very cold mini fridge.
There was a desk area with a nice chair and good lighting.
The beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean, but had minor stains that were superficial.
Noticeable repairs were better than what I have seen in the big name hotels.
The hot breakfast is waffles. No eggs or toast. They did have cereal and muffins. The coffee was exceptionally good compared to most hotel coffee. They also had juice.
Overall, this is a solid place to stay. I would recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to spend a weekend in Arlington with their family without breaking the budget.
We found the room to be small, but cute and had a small cabin vibe. The shower was just adorable and the water was hot.
I wish I had taken pictures.
Thank you Sleep...
Read moreThis "hotel" is one of the worst I've ever been to, and it is bad by a long shot. The rooms you can get are small, so small that it most likely isn't worth the price for one. The room I had had 5 outlets max for whatever you need them for, which is absurd, I'd think you'd need a few more than 5 outlets with all the devices you need to bring along for a trip.
Something minor I'd like to mention is the fact that in the far left corner of the room, opposite the bed and left of the closet, was a dead cricket.
Secondly, the AC unit in my room was abysmal, as only one side of the unit actually worked like it should have (blasting some cold air). Even at 60 degrees set, the room was still noticeably warm. Someone came to my room to examine the unit, got told to wait some more and that the room would cool down, it never did get cold like I wanted to. At this point, I had my expectations lowered a lot, but still held out that this wasn't going to be as bad as I thought.
I also don't understand why the sink of all places should have be in the same area as the beds, perhaps because of the sizing of the rooms, but it doesn't belong in that area.
The shower is ok, just a flat ground and shower head, with two "grooves" to place things. The shower I used had a glass door, but the water from the shower managed to seep outside on the bathroom floor, a big hazard for sure.
Next, the room service is some of the worst I've ever had to deal with. I requested a "roll-away" bed on numerous occasions, yet was always told that they would have one out "in a little bit", but it took until the 2nd day of my trip until one employee finally brought one out. The bed was just as shoddy as one could imagine- a dingy mattress, which had visible tears on its edges and looked garbage overall- and it was supported on a basic movable base, which had a spring missing to hold up the bed. All that time wasted, just to bring out a crappy bed, absolutely terrible.
The breakfast may have been the only ok thing to come out of this. The inn provided some Yoplait yogurt, waffle batter for waffles, some apples, Fruity Loops and Raisin Bran, juices and coffee. I already had no expectation of anything good for breakfast, but it was just ok, nothing notable.
Besides the mediocre breakfast, the location of the inn was the only other thing I didn't hate. It's right next to the Six Flags park for anyone who goes there, and it's not so far from the Globe Life Field, about a 7-10 min drive with traffic included. But this is out of convenience only, so I can only say so much about the location.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience that hardly had any positives, save for 2 things that made the experience bearable. My personal experiences also contributed to my overall...
Read moreNever in my life have I experienced A WORST hotel stay experience. The pictures attached to my review should speak for themselves however that only captures a portion of our stay.
Upon arrival we (1 mother with 2 children) waited at the check in desk (there was no one else in line) for 10 minutes without seeing a single employee. As we stood there waiting to check in, I decided that I would try calling the hotel in hopes the phone would get someone’s attention. As good of an idea as that was, it did not work. 15 minutes and 3 phone calls later, I yelled “Hello, is anyone here? We trying to check in” and someone finally came up to the front desk.
Our assigned room (#324) was an absolute nightmare! We entered the room, and sat our bags down and began to notice that our room could not have possibly been cleaned. As shown in the picture attached: 1. There is an actual ball of hair resting on the headboard or one of the beds. 2. There are 5 or more strands of hair in the sheets of the other bed (these could not be the same hairs that belonged to the ball of hair). 3. The tile in the bathroom, under the sink very clearly has dried up blood splattered on them. 4. There is white crusty stuff splattered on the wall. 5. An unknown substance smeared on the night stand. 6. The adjoining room door knob is completely broken off. 7. Walls and lamp shades have mold and goo all over them.
I called my husband and asked if he could please call the hotel (I am very passive and I do not like confrontation) and request a room change based on the unsanitary conditions of the rooms we were placed in. He called the hotel 3 times, and could not get an answer. We ended up grabbing our things and going downstairs to request new accommodations.I allowed 2 others that come up after me, to proceed with their check in so they did not get the wrong impression based off of our personal experience. I showed the employee the photos I took of our room, and asked to be moved to a room that was truly cleaned. He apologized and began to process the room change. While processing the room change, he had the audacity to ask me if we had used anything in room, and if we left it clean. I replied letting him know that we were in the room all of about 10 minutes, and it was clearly not clean upon arrival. He said he could not move my room deposit over to a new room, so another $50 would be charged to my card. This was aggravating but I did not have the energy to dispute that. We were sent up to our new room (#326) which was only slightly better then room (#324) because it did not have splattered blood on the floor and random...
