The S&S 4d spinner the Joker is a fun but frustrating ride experience. It is entirely dependant on operations being top notch to have a good time. Your queue experience depends on a good ratio of Flashpass to Standby and that us rarely the case at SFoT. The versions I've ridden at Fiesta Texas and King's Dominion were far more efficient queues that made for a much better time. The ride itself is fun but certainly intense for some riders. There's a lot of flipping end over end while traversing the track layout. These 4d free spins are manufactured by a company called S&S. After S&S took over Arrow Development they got their 4D free spin patents, including X2 at Magic Mountain. A divisive, uncomfortable ride that some adore (I don't). From that they developed this ride system, a cheaper version essentially with a smaller footprint. It also has smaller trains seating a maximum of 8 people, running 2 trains when I was there. So, one is loading while the other runs the course. For context Batman can handle 1400 riders per hour and the max at Joker is 720. SF employee training doesn't seem to emphasize the importance of sending these trains out full either, so I saw several go out with empty seats when calling out for single riders could fix it quickly. Then there is the Fastlane. When I got to the stage in the line where I could see the meeting point of the Fastlane and standby lines, I saw the issue. The queue loads so slow that by the time the line is ready to move, another group would show up in the Fastlane. and the employee would let them go instead of the standby. I watched this for 20 minutes without our line moving an inch and finally gave up and...
Read moreIts an alright ride. I do enjoy these free spins, but it isn't anything really special. On my ride, I only got a bunch of rocking back and forth and zero flips. Which was a bummer because when you do get flips on this ride, it is awesome! This is a coaster where you might want to re-ride because it offers a different experience every time, but they are all over the place so I wouldn't go out of my way to experience it. This park has better, more unique rides, so I'd do it once for the credit...
