I think our expectations were a bit to high for this establishment. Cocktails were great and that's pretty much it.
We all know that food is what we go out to eat for but for Asheville, there's a plethora of awesome food choices around. So with that said, we were hoping that great food was accompanied by great service.
Here's how the experience went...
Our reservation was switched from 5:30 PM to 5:00 PM, which we were happy to accommodate because it was Christmas eve after all. When we got there at 4:55, we were sent upstairs to the bar to have some cocktails. Great start because the cocktails were good. Then the host came up to get us. Therefore we closed our tab and proceeded downstairs to our table with our cocktails on hand.
Here comes the failed part..the dinner. We ordered the daily bread which is the house baked bread and it was VERY dry. The butter was good and kinda salvaged the bread that we tried to consume.
Then we were offered a complementary pickled beet appetizer served with avocado butter, which was the best part of our meal overall.
We ordered the roasted bone marrow for starters, which came with one half bone and two slices of grilled bread. It was ok but there were more cilantro and onion on the plate than the marrow itself.
Our main courses were the crepinette and the bass. The crepinette was ok with a bitter note and the bass again had soooo much cilantro that I had to take the mountain of garnish off to fork my actual food. The rice was a bit undercooked and under seasoned, well...everything was in terms of salt.
For the finale, to save our pallets, we ordered the coffee pudding. It was very little pudding topped with a heaping scoop of whipped cream. I did appreciate that the cream was freshly whipped because that made the dessert worth $10. Or did it? Idk, at this point I didn't care anymore.
Lastly, when we were eager to leave, we recieved the bill which included a charge for the "complementary" appetizer. We were happy to pay for the meal that we ordered but dissatisfaction after dissatisfaction topped with a charge mistake...we were done.

Read moreYesterday we went to this highly recommended restaurant with high expectations. Service was awful, scattered, everyone got their meal at different times. Nothing was outstanding. We asked for a mussel vinaigrette and there were literally 4 mussels in the plate, tiny ones by the way. Food was underseasoned. The outdoor patio was poorly ventilated and was extremely hot to be offered as a seating option. We were all profusely sweating. I don't know what is about these pricey places that once they get recognition they drop the ball majestically! Would not recommend it! Update 06/09/24:
Response to management feedback to my review.
Mr. Knighten,
Thank you for your message and for appreciating our honest feedback.
I understand that controlling the outdoor temperature in early July is beyond anyone's control. However, we appreciate your commitment to conveying to guests that your outside patio is located outside.
Regarding the feedback on the food and service, I don’t appreciate the condescending tone. Trust me, I wasn't expecting a bowl of mussels as you suggested, but neither was I expecting a mussel vinaigrette (understanding vinaigrette as salad dressing, if my French is not incorrect) as a component of the dish as described and highlighted in you menu, featuring only 4 tiny mussels. Clear menu descriptions and server explanations are important, and we appreciate your acknowledgement of that without blaming your patrons for the “misunderstanding”.
We're pleased to hear that you value feedback as a constructive tool for your staff, even if at times I am not sure if you truly value the feedback or are trying to comeback at me with a sarcastic and condescending tone. It's important for me to share my experiences, and hopefully your management will truly learn how to gladly hear and appreciate an opinion, even if not favorable.
Thank you for making a note in your reservation system. It's reassuring to know that our party will be taken care of should we decide to give Table another...
Read moreMy husband and I have been in the wine & spirit business for the better portion of our adult lives which means we’ve experienced every restaurant type there is and more. We walked into Table on a whim and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic with everything about it! First and foremost, the staff is BAR NONE! We were taken care of like family and made to feel at home. They’re knowledgeable and friendly, but very relaxed as not to make you feel uncomfortable. .Second, THE FOOD!! Locally sourced items, daily menu changes…. Everything was cooked to perfection! I wish we were here longer so I could try everything on their menu!!! Third, the cocktails!!!! Creativity and variety…. I’ve seen a ton of cocktail lists in my career and I can say without a doubt, these guys know what they’re doing! Throw some trust their way and they will not disappoint. Sean was behind the bar our first night and made a killer gimlet! The wine list is eclectic and top notch so if cocktails aren’t your thing, don’t let that keep you from experiencing this place! Let them guide you to a perfect pairing. Heidi’s bread as an app is a MUST HAVE! It comes with house made cultured butter and I’m pretty sure I will be dreaming of this bread for years to come! We loved this restaurant so much we came back a second night. The staff recognized us and again, treated us like family. They house-make their pasta dishes which are to die for! I also had the chicken dish which was cooked absolutely perfect and probably ruined any other restaurant chicken experience for me in the future because there’s no way anything will live up to this place.
I’m not one to write reviews. It takes A LOT to impress me…. But this place had it all! You’re seriously missing out if you don’t stop by! Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing hospitality and amazing atmosphere. If I could give 100...
