This was a huge let down. Our first indication should’ve been the empty tables on a Saturday night at 6 pm. The second clue that we should’ve gone somewhere else was when we sat for 10 minutes before a server arrived and another 10 to have our empty water glasses refilled. This all took place in otherwise empty restaurant sadly. While staff were friendly and our food came out promptly, we were very disappointed in our caprese salad. The “mozzella” cheese was more like chunky cream cheese/ cottage cheese mixture. Because we had each ordered the salad we each got different tomatoes. One was frozen and not ripe enough, therefore hard to cut and chew. The other was overly ripe and mushy. The combination of the cheese and bad tomatoes quickly extinguished any excitement we had previously had for the salads. My friend ordered the ribs and I had ordered the “buttermilk fried chicken fingers”. My chicken fingers could easily have been found in the frozen food section. They looked like Tyson popcorn chicken. The house dressing didn’t taste like anything. I couldn’t figure out if it was sour cream or what. I was just disappointed and ate them because there was no way I was eating more of the awful salad. (By the way, during this time we had to flag someone down to fill our waters again. Restaurant still not full and server did not look thrilled to leave the bar as we were not in her section...) My friend’s ribs were so so sad. The sauce was tangy and sweet, which could be ok if you like that. It basically covered up favor of the meat, which is a shame. When our waitress came over at the end, we told her our disappointment about the food. She quickly asked why we hadn’t flagged her down and told us that’s why she checks in on her tables. Our glasses may have been half full but that was due to her coworker. Even if she had tried to get us a different salad, at this point the food we had already received had given us proof that anything on the menu was overly priced for the quality and probably wasn’t very good. Thankfully they took the salads off the check, but I didn’t like the excuse over the quality. Overall this has been the biggest disappointment of 2019. With all the other choices in town I would recommend...
Read moreI’ll start by saying it took over 15 minutes for my own bottle of wine to be opened for an average $20 corkage, I’m happy to pay it if it were timely. They were busy and the bartender was very sweet. The clams were not good, tasted like bland dishwater with sweet peppers added (where is the white wine, the garlic, shallot , the butter the flavor?? )I ate approximately three of those and let it be discarded (the server did not ask if I enjoyed it nor did she notice that my plate was full and I didn’t eat it) I attempted to eat the bread which was also not good (how so? I don’t know!!!) so I asked for balsamic vinegar and oil for dipping. after waiting another almost 15 minutes, I had to ask a second time for balsamic vinegar and oil, at that time I was brought in Italian dressing of some sort, which again I had to ask for balsamic vinegar and oil. What I was finally brought was some sort of balsamic reduction that had way too much sugar in it and it was also horrible. I find it sad that restaurants survive simply by being on the plaza in Ashland Martinos is another one that does this. I only tried Harvey’s on a recommendation from one of my own customers. If I did give them another chance, it won’t be anytime soon. I literally left they’re...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for 11 years. We used to come for the baked Brie appetizer, then they took it off the menu for some unknown reason. Now, we come to ask about the baked Brie. Every time we ask they say “everyone always asks! but we don’t have it anymore”. If everyone always asks THEN BRING IT BACK!!!! …. Unfortunately, we just had our last meal at Harvey’s. We waited an hour for our food, we were never checked on or updated, our appetizer plates were never cleared. No apology, no explanation, our waitress didn’t even approach the table until after A DIFFERENT waitress had to serve us food. The shrimp had veins, the burger was raw, the pork chop was tough. The restaurant is loud, uninviting (despite the cheap fairy lights strewn all around) and generally very mid. We’ve never had an outstanding meal here, but they USED to have outstanding baked brie. All of this being said, EVERYTHING would be forgiven and we would become OFTEN patrons again if they just brought the brie back. PLEASE!! It’s the only redeeming part...
