Zoey's Cafe & Artisan Ice Cream — Restaurant in Ashland

So I have ordered ice cream here many times over the years it’s pricy but always good. This time 5/19 at about 6:30 pm I went in and ordered a hot fudge Sunday. I specifically asked for a classic Sunday with vanilla ice cream and all the fixings. The server made it up but I saw he had used chocolate ice cream when he brought it over I said oh no did you use chocolate and he said yes you asked for a chocolate Sunday. I said no I was pretty clear what I wanted. He dumped it in the trash with an attitude and made another with vanilla ice cream.I asked the other server did you hear me say vanilla and he said yes. I said well please tell the other guy to lose the attitude. Meanwhile the server made another Sunday and still with attitude plopped it down on the counter, this time it had about a tea spoon of hot fudge no nuts. I brought it back and said this doesn’t have much hot fudge he said well we’re low on hot fudge that’s all there was I can get more if you want!, He marched back to get more. He came back but spent time answering another customers questions about something and I gave up and left. All in all a very bad experience. If you must hire kids try to train them in...

The service was terrible. We didn’t know what time they were going to close and we LITERALLY ASKED if they were still open and if it was okay and the girl with long blonde hair said “yes be quick” The girls then proceeded to slam everything around, shake their heads at us, say nasty things under their breath, and the girl with long black hair in pigtails said “what do you want” while slamming stuff around, throwing stuff and rolling her eyes as well. It was honestly the worst I’ve ever been treated in an establishment and feel very disrespected. They shoved the ice cream at us and stormed into the back once again slamming doors open and swearing. Then when we proceeded to try and pay they just told us to “just leave” cause they “already closed the register” If they didn’t wanna service us they could’ve told us politely that they were closed and we would’ve respected it and continued on with our night. Just moved here from Texas and I cannot get enough of Zoey’s ice cream, especially the Jamaican chocolate rum flavor. It is rich and creamy; they do not stint on quality ingredients in this ice cream, like using heavy cream. The portions are very generous, but then I usually get the medium size cup.

The people that work there, like Dalia, are always very sweet and polite, even when some of the customers are downright obnoxious and rude, such as about wearing a mask. One of the workers politely asked this man to pull up his face mask, which was only covering his mouth. I appreciated that. I feel sorry for the workers, who are just trying to do their job.
