So we walk in, and are told to sit anywhere, and someone will be with us shortly. So we do. And wait. And wait. And wait. Fifteen minutes go by, and we have to go to the bartender to ask for freaking water!!!
Okay, so we get our water, and order our food. It's a little slow, but it comes.
Our order: A side salad The 10 piece wings from the appetizer menu. Side of Fries with Chili and Cheese Bangers & Mash
Okay, so first the side salad. REALLY big for a side salad. It was more like a whole meal. Absolutely no complaints there! Definitely worth it to order that!
Next, the wings: seasoned really well, flavor was good, but it was VERY salty! That, and the meat was kinda dry. Other than that, not bad! Though the dipping sauce was a little lacking in volume. Only enough really for about 3 wings.
Next up we have the chili cheese fries. Like the side salad, a HUGE quantity for something that's supposed to be a side. No complaints about that, buuuuuut!.. while the fries tasted okay, and the cheese was real shredded cheddar, the chili just kind of felt and tasted like it came out of a can. It was really salty in that canned food sort of way, and it tasted kind of bland. Not what I was hoping for in a restaurant that claims to be a pub.
Then there's the Bangers and Mash. So from the plate up, there should be mashed potatoes (not difficult to make), then an onion gravy, then the Bangers, which is a sausage. Doesn't have to be anything specific, but it typically is a mildly spiced pork sausage.
This was dollar-store bratwurst on a canned or powdered gravy, on top of bland, flavorless dollar-store instant mashed potatoes from a box! I mean come on! Mashed potatoes are the easiest thing in the world to make! You couldn't be bothered to make real food? Are you kidding me?
So all in all, we were ignored, had massive wait times, the food was garbage, and this was all in all a very disappointing experience.
Don't waste your money...
Read moreI really hate writing this review since I've lived next to this bar for years and I watched it go through major highs and major lows. This has been my go to bar for years, but I'm not going back anymore. I hit my last straw. It's so sad because this bar was on a literal come up for months up until right after the new year.
I've watched staff come and go and I knew the previous managers Andrew and Eric really well and I was so relieved when they brought in the guy after them since Andrew was literally running it right into the ground. Ryan actually knew how to run a bar and not get drunk while working. He knew everyone that came through the door and made all of us industry people look forward to getting off work and hanging out together after our shifts. I can't say the same for the current staff as they're literally slurring drunk while taking my order and have never gotten it right.
I waited for at least ten minutes before our drink and food order was taken. While sitting there I literally saw a rat run out of the kitchen... Okay maybe they hired ratatouille and my food will come out better for once. Nope... When we finally got our food, it was cold and the chicken was raw.
I don't really know any of the staff as they don't really take an effort to get to know anyone, and all I hear them talking about is how little money they're making. I'd love to tip more so you'd make more of you get off you phone and come take my order... My entire group is industry, but you've run all of us off. i asked for a manager and I was told that he was busy and couldn't speak to us... I later saw him get up from the table he was sitting at...where he wasn't busy...
To those who actually care and want a lively upbeat late night spot, metro diner is half a block up the road. Herradura there is 13 here here it's like 17 dollars. Spare this place and go to meehans one block up the road if you're looking for a pub vibe. This place...
Read moreGibney's Pub is a place that was recommended by a local I had encountered before I checked into the Hyatt Regency after arriving in Atlanta. Gibney's is your regular no thrills pub. Walking into Gibney's I noticed it was rather dark inside even on an early Tuesday afternoon. Then again, it is a pub. What more should you expect? Instead of sitting at a table, I opted to sit at the bar so I wouldn't have to wait for a waitress since I was alone.
The bartender was friendly on my approach to the bar and she quickly took my drink order for an Angry Orchard Cider on tap. After about 5 minutes, she took my order for a mushroom Swiss burger that I had ordered medium rare. Noticing there were sweet potato tater tot available as a side dish, I had to try them. The wait time was about 15 minutes, not too long of a wait. The service during the wait was something that could be improved upon. There were two bartenders and it took a little too long to get a glass of water when there were only a handful of people in the entire bar/ restaurant.
The burger itself was good, however it had a component that needs to change to make it a better product. The burger was medium rare as I had ordered and juicy. They used a decent Swiss cheese that was melted perfectly. However, the mushrooms could have been so much better. Not sure if these mushrooms were over done or canned, but they were too rubbery when I bit into them. If they had been more firm, they would have provided that difference in texture that was lacking. It was missing that snap when you bite into perfectly cooked fresh mushrooms. The sweet potato tater tots were good, something I have never had before. The tater tots were cooked well and crispy on the outside.
Overall, this is a decent pub with average service. The mushrooms on the burger prevent me from giving the...
