Where do I start......This has to be the single worse restaurant experience that I've had in a loooonnng time. So I call before I get there to see if they have a wait, because it's Sunday afternoon. They said there was no wait but it was taking 20 minutes for food to come out the kitchen. Okay no problem, so half of our party gets there about 10 minutes before we arrive and they ordered their drinks and appetizer. The rest of us got there at 2:25 pm and ordered our drinks and food. By 3:41 pm we still did not have our food orders...We had drinks and the first half of our party had their appetizer, which was an order of fried pickles. It was at this time, after watching 4 other tables get there drinks, appetizers, and 1 get their entire order, eat and then leave that we asked for the manager. That's when we learned that the manager knew of the issues in the kitchen and didn't want to talk to the customers about it. We learned that before us, several tables had gotten up and left. Ok so, the manager, Cecilia, did finallymake her way to our table but offered no help she just said "I know, the kitchen is slow and I'm sorry." She said she'd put a rush on our food....We had already been waiting an hour but hey what can you do. So we finally get our food at around 4 and low and behold one of the girls gets lukewarm under cooked chicken and the rest of us had unseasoned food. It was like all they did was throw it in the grease with no salt or pepper. The potato salad was nasty and the baked beans were not tasty. The fries also needed salt. Enough is enough!!!!!!! Long story short, we ended up getting our food comped thanks to the wonderful waitstaff....Lexus, Sierra, and Danielle....Yes, it took so long to get our food that other waitresses were checking on us and trying to offer help. Cecilia on the other hand was useless. She seemed like she was confused and lethargic. She is not good leadership material. I highly recommend that if you have a life outside of eating chicken that you not go to this place. This was our first time going and I promise you it is our LAST!!! On a good note the sweet potato pie was pretty decent, sweet tea good, and the chocolate chess pie DELISH.....But as far as this place having world famous chicken....I'd rather eat Popeye's or...
Read moreFor the record, I need you to understand the level of excitement that came over me at the fact that I was finally able to try Gus’s!
I have a girlfriend who has told me on more than one occasion that Gus’s was the best fried chicken she has ever had in her life. As such, I had to go!
After years of saying “I’m going” I was finally able to make my way in. I love that there is parking directly across the street from the building. Upon walking in I was drawn to the cafe style setup presented. It looks like a weekday cafe mixed with a small family restaurant. Great aesthetic for a friend lunch or personal meal.
We were seated upon entry and greeted by our waitress Nicole. Nicole walked over very upbeat and all smiles. She was super friendly and instantly connected with us as we laughed and joked as we discussed our drink choices. Note to Management, Nicole’s service was above standard and worth recognition.
I decided on a Sweet Tea and the 2 Piece. For the record they do NOT have cornbread. Nicole comforted me by letting me know I wasn’t alone in my thoughts that cornbread would be on the menu. LoL!
The Sweet Tea was Southern Sweet Goodness and exactly what I needed on a warm Spring Day. As I sit here and write this I want some more. LoL!!
The chicken was a true experience. Crunchy on the outside. Moist and meaty on the inside. Well seasoned with a noticeable blend of flavor on the meat as well as in the batter along with being perfectly cooked. This 2 piece hit the spot in the exact way that was needed at the moment.
I will admit, when it comes to GREAT Fried Chicken, Gus’s has made its way to my Top 10 List!!!
If you are near a Gus’s I suggest you make it a point to stop in and grab you an order. Make sure to sit down before taking a bite as it will cause a sensation of flavor-goodness throughout your whole...
Read moreThe ONLY reasons I gave a 5-star is because the food is always IMPECCABLE & because of the determination & integrity of the employees. Whoever is in charge of this location, you’re going to BLOW it, and NOT because of your crew. People can only take so much of a work-load before it starts becoming visible to the consumer that they’re struggling. When my man & I walked in, (3rd time being to the location; I’ve also been to approx. 7 locations in different states) we were immediately greeted (which I personally love, because it at least lets me know someone has acknowledged I’m there) we sat down & proceeded to wait about 10-15 mins to get our drinks & orders taken. The long wait wasn’t because of poor multitasking, it wasn’t because (my waitress) Heather didn’t know how to do her job, it was because the ENTIRE CREW(kitchen included) was getting STUCK in position because of lack of help & lack of organization.. I’ve been to some of the busiest Gus’ Chicken Restaurants in the nation (no one has better fried chicken the breading is phenomenal 😩😍) and this is honestly the most chaotic I’ve been to.. there’s no order. GET these people some HELP! They should not have to UNGLUE themselves from a position in order to leave at the end of their shift, family having to wait outside for an hour to get their people when it’s not their responsibility to even stay over. I truly ADMIRE their determination to make it work; whoever has this location, you need to APPRECIATE your employees and pray that a bigger company owner doesn’t come in & see the same determination & HARD-working ethic that I did, because anyone would be MORE than happy to have these individuals representing their...
