I’m on a mission to try all the local food places around the GSU campus and Mr. Hibachi is the latest stop on my adventures. The restaurant itself is a tightly set up space with bar style tables and chairs so there’s pretty much no chance to eat without having to sit near strangers. I saw another review say they immediately saw cockroaches when they opened the door but thankfully I didn’t see any pests on my visit. The food itself was indeed hibachi style food with choices of chicken, beef, or shrimp for most of the entrées and a small selection of side dishes. I ordered the Steak Hibachi with a side of fried shrimp and it was pretty good. I instantly knew what I was eating was hibachi but there wasn’t any sort of unique flavouring. It was just steak and steamed rice. Not bad but not Earth shatteringly good either. The staff are friendly though I think there might be a few communication issues here and there, I heard another person order something and they had to repeat it a few times because the cashier didn’t fully understand what they were saying. Overall I’d give Mr. Hibachi a solid 8/10, I’d definitely come back if I wanted to eat something with...
Read moreTried the Mr. Hibachi food truck at House in the Park. Waited over 30 min because they had run out of stuff only they didn’t courteously mention that it would be a wait until after I had paid for the food. Got the chicken and the steak, both over cooked and way too salty with no other flavor. How can rice be over cooked and undercooked at the same time? They’ve figured that out. Everything tasted like soy sauce, super basic. Also charged an extra $5 to my card without saying so. I can’t stand paying that much for a food truck meal and the person serving the food is rude while they take your money. Overall left a bad taste in my mouth. Washed it down with a cup of $10 sugar water that had been sitting in the sun for hours. Didn’t help...
Read moreIt's counter service, a small, casual spot. The menu was pretty basic. I thought it was overpriced for what you get. I got bulgolgi, white rice, and gyoza (3 pieces) and paid almost $10. I thought I waited quite awhile to get my food, I got there at 11:35 and left at 11:55 without eating, I just took it to go. A whole truck load of people filed in after me, crowding the space so I guess it's pretty popular. The bulgolgi was good. Overall I don't think it was a good value and I will look around for...
