Rumi's is always an experience, and it literally doesn't matter which location I go to. And it still remains the same to this day. I've been frequenting to this establishment since there was only the one location off Roswell Rd (which maybe I'm biased is the best location), so I definitely am a true die hard loyal customer, but I do have to say the other locations have not disappointed. This Mother's Day I happened to be forced to make reservations at the Colony Square location b/c my beloved location where I normally make reservations at is currently being renovated (which I can't wait to see what they have done!), but nonetheless Rumi's is where all my family's holiday/bday celebrations are always celebrated which just has become a tradition in my family's go to restaurants where we enjoy to celebrate at. So even though our favorite location is temporarily closed for renovations, we still had to celebrate at one of the locations, and we chose Colony Square for this instance, and they did not disappoint. The food, the ambiance, and the service never disappoint at Rumi's. And hence is always our go-to for family outings b/c of the consistency.
I gotta definitely give a shout out to our waiter, Marcus, who was just a gem throughout the dining experience. He was super on it, and on Mother's Day with the number of customers they were handling, he still was very attentive, so he definitely made a wonderful experience. He did forget to pack my mast-o-masir, but he still gets a 5 star rating from me b/c he was so attentive and with yesterday's chaos, it truly was such a small thing to forget to pack.
The food was chef's kiss. For apps, we ordered the falafel and the crispy potatoes... which the potatoes are not available at the Roswell Rd location and let me tell you...wow! They were amazing! (Marcus urged us that we wouldn't be disappointed, and he was oh so right!) For our meals, we ordered the Koobideh, the salmon, and the duck (family style, of course!), which everything was amazing. The salmon was cooked perfectly! Just melted in our mouths. The duck is an item that isn't available at the Roswell Rd location, and it was delicious. It's made in a braised stew, so it's not the typical grilled items, but if you like stew like dishes, you'll enjoy this one. It's in a rich pomegranate walnut stew, which is very typical in Persian cooking. And the koobideh needs no deets besides that it never fails and is always consistently delicious. For dessert, we got the Rumi's tart, and it was delicious end to the meal.
All in all, even with the valet being completely full (which is complimentary at this location for those who don't know!) and with the awful rainy weather yesterday, Rumi's at Colony Square still made our outing a wonderful experience. If you haven't been to any of the locations, RUN! Go! I've been to all the GA locations, and they're all great. You won't be...
Read moreWhile visiting Atlanta, I stumbled upon Rumi’s Kitchen at Colony Square — a beautifully designed space that caught my attention from the outside. With its warm lighting and modern yet welcoming architecture, the place looked upscale and inviting, and I was immediately drawn to check it out.
Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. The interior has a chic, tasteful setup with a slight Mediterranean influence. It’s dimly lit in a way that feels cozy yet classy, making it a perfect spot for a dinner date or a calm evening out. The vibe was just right — elegant without being overwhelming.
I tried a few items off the menu: corn ribs, oyster mushroom hummus, falafel, and roasted cauliflower. Before the meal, they served complimentary house bread along with a side of radish, cheese, walnuts, and greens, which was a lovely surprise. This little starter platter was refreshing and elevated the experience — simple, well-thought-out, and a generous touch.
Coming to the food: • Corn ribs were flavorful, crisp on the outside and nicely spiced. They made for a fun and tasty appetizer. • The oyster mushroom hummus was a standout. Creamy, rich, and umami — definitely one of my favorite dishes of the evening. • The falafel was another hit. Crunchy on the outside, soft and herby inside. A must-try, especially if you enjoy Middle Eastern flavors. • Unfortunately, the roasted cauliflower was a letdown. It was oddly bland, lacked depth, and just didn’t sit well with my palate. I found it to be one of the weakest cauliflower dishes I’ve had. Surprisingly, this was the item the server had highly recommended, which was disappointing.
Speaking of service, it was decent overall. The staff was courteous and attentive, though I did expect better recommendations when we asked for the best dishes. Given that the roasted cauliflower was suggested as a highlight, I was a bit thrown off. But apart from that, everything else was smooth.
All things considered, I’d rate Rumi’s Kitchen a solid 4 out of 5. The ambience was beautiful, the service was polite, and some dishes were truly delightful. While I’ve definitely had better food in terms of depth and flavor elsewhere, this restaurant still offered a lovely dining experience with a few standout items worth...
Read moreWe went there 2x. On the first day, it wasn't super crowded, and the atmosphere was pretty perfect. It was still SUPER loud, but it wasn't too bad. The food was amazing. Especially the bread. We got the lamb ribs (amazing), Poor translation (also amazing), and the Ice cream Sandwhich (also VERY amazing.) The person with me also got a Lahmacun, which was good according to her. That was a 5-star service. And because of that, we went the next day with a reservation at 8:15 pm. We got seated at 8:30 pm, after most of the people around us were seated (and there were empty tables) but it's alright because it's SUPER busy. We both ordered kebabs (I got the lamb (well-done), and she got the chicken.) Alicia was serving us, and she was doing great with the current crowd of customers in the restaurant. However, while we waited, we overheared the table next to us complaining that they didn't get their bread. The first server passes the table, and they try to get their attention, nothing. The second server passes, nothing. The third server passes, nothing. I did eventually inform a server that passed around our table (even though I shouldn't, since it's really none of my business), and even after that, they didn't get their bread. It was probably 45 minutes later after their first ask (and we already got our kebabs and drinks by that point) that they got their single basket of bread. Moving on, due to the rush of things, the kitchen seemed to lower it's quality of food slightly (it was still good, but the bread was better the other day.) The lamb kebab was alright. It first came out medium rare, but they quickly fixed it after I brought it up. The second drink (because I was already done by the first one) took about 30 minutes to be made or so, and I did try to cancel it but ended up getting it on the house since it was already made (I felt really bad about it 😅.) At the end, we got our check, and another lady (not Alicia) forgot to give us a pen for us to sign and give a tip. And by then it was 9:30 pm so we left. Overall, 3 star service is due to the chaotic environment. I think that the restaurant would benefit more with decreasing the sitting option to lower the volume and lower the burden on the kitchen or expanding...
