True Food Kitchen — Restaurant in Atlanta

I want to give this place 5 stars because everything was AMAZING EXCEPT the fact that I asked for my burger with the pepper sauce on the side because I was worried that it would be too peppery for my "delicate" taste buds ;-) lol. When I received my meal, the sauce was not on the side. I decided to try it, but as I suspected, the sauce had a high pepper content that was overpowering. I asked to correct the issue and it took forever to make a new sandwich. By the time it finally came, my husband had long since finished his entire entree. However, while the 2nd burger now had sauce on the side, the kitchen had also put MOre sauce on the burger. Instead of fixing the problem, they added to it. Our waiter was beyond frustrated with the kitchen for the 2nd error, and I felt bad for him, but was also very hungry. At this point, my husband ordered dessert 🍨 and again had to wait a long time for the 3rd burger. By the time it finally came, my husband had finished dessert, and I ravenously devoured the food as it was going on 9pm. The waiter did comp us my burger, which was the least they could do considering. I would have given a full on 5 stars across the board had they comped the full meal given that I was unable to enjoy my meal with my husband on a rare date night opportunity (we have 2 toddlers that my MIL was watching) . . THE GOOD . . . The atmosphere was great. Outdoor seating on a perfect night allowed for a lovely breeze and the open air minimized crowd chatter. The overall vibe was perfect. My husband has celiacs disease and while eggs are okay, he is highly allergic to anything containing trace amounts of gluten and is unable to eat anything that contains cows milk (cheese, butter, milk, etc.). . . Not only were they able to offer gluten-free and dairy free / vegan options, but there was a large variety he could choose from, including an amazing pizza that we shared as an appetizer. Even the dessert menu contained not one, but two options that were both gluten-free and vegan. We look forward to giving this space a second chance to up their game on the service side because like I said, we loved everything about it except the number of times and wait time to fix their error. ;-)

So I wanted a little something before my appointment at 11. I went to Yelp to find a vegan restaurant near me. True Food came up nearest. I had heard of it be near been. I got there around 9:40 am on a Sunday and it appeared to be that I was the first customer. I walk in and the hostess just looks at me. I am like uuuuuuuuh, discomfort. No good morning, hello smile or nothing. She then finally says table for one. I say yes. She then asks my preference of table I decide just on the bar cause of the warm feel and the great televisions to catch up on the sports scores. At the bar again no smile from bartender she just hands me a menu and asks what would like to drink. What a great menu of fresh juices and smoothies. I ordered a Bright Eyes juice and a blueberry muffin the juices comes over ice which you should not ruin the juice with ice but she gladly drained the juice for me 🙂Very tasty. The muffin seems to be taking awhile for just a muffin and No one else in the restaurant. The bartender comes and says the muffin will be right out. A couple minutes later I see 2 plates come to the bar. Apparently the food was for the bartender as she takes the food and disappears to the patio. Still no muffin. I look out the window of the bar through to the patio and see 3 to 4 employees out there enjoying Starbucks food and drinks and having a great time. As seen in one of my photos. Finally the muffin is delivered I ask are the muffins baked to order I'm told yes...ok great. Well the muffin is warm on top but not in the middle🤷🏾‍♂️ hmmm ok. It's good n tasty anyway I finish, pay and on my way after being there for 45min. On the way out at least 4 to 5 employees hostesses and waiters at the door do I get a thank you, good bye or have a nice day? NOPE 🤐So my first experience with this company was disappointment. And I only had juice and a muffin. Will i return yes cause the menu looks good. Will l come to this location?...

Just this evening we had a couple of friends over our townhome in Buckhead and had made 6:30pm reservations for the 4 of us knowing that we could walk there. I had noted online in the reservation that it was a dinner in celebration of a birthday (my wife’s). As we entered the restaurant the hostess greeted us, it looked as if she noted the reservation, but as she walked us to the table, I mentioned to her that it was my wife’s birthday. She barely ackowledged that comment. The server took our drink orders for water and one virgin margarita for me. The waters came almost immediately, my drink, and no water came maybe 10-15 minutes later. I later asked for a water and was served it. Our table has on it 2-3 place settings but, only one napkin; later rectified. For my dinner order, I first mistakenly ordeed the trout and then corrected myself to the get Tuna. When my meal came out, I received the Trout and informed my server that I had changed my mind and had ordered the Tuna. It was quickly corrected by telling me to keep the trout and within a few minutes received my Tina order, which was delicious (as was the little bit of the Trout that I had eaten. I finally got my water and the rest of the tableware just as the meal came. Though it was hard to get the servers attention as she was doling out dishes to the large group next to us. Even when I attempted to wave down the server and got no response, I noticed that the helpers handing the dishes to the server saw me and also did not respond. Finally, when we all complwted our meal, and asked for the check no mention or acknowledgment of it being my wife’s birthday was ever noted.

So, like I said, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal but, I think that more attention needed to me made to the little things (table settings, water service, timing of drink service, and acknowledgment of any apecial occasions). Not certain of our return unless some of those service...
