Had a taste for a cheesesteak or as we call it in DC, a steak n cheese. Was in the area so we decided to go to to this place. Line was somewhat long, so I figured the food must be good. Unfriendly, discourteous Very unprofessional poor customer service or the lack thereof. Not only did they make my cheesesteak wrong (which really wasn't a big deal, mistakes happen) but the lady taking the order took the sandwich and dug all in it ripping it apart who in turn showed it to and gave it to the guy who had actually prepared it, who by the way had a serious attitude problem huffing and puffing and for what? All because I brought the sandwich back to you and you didn't feel like doing it over, because you didn't follow directions in preparing it correctly in the first place? That's on you. You did it wrong and you to get upset and slammed the sandwich down when he was done. Totally unnecessary and very bad for business. Who acts like that over s returned sandwich. I can see if I was the one who brought it back with an attitude. Like I said, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and that's how I got treated Got the sandwich back and second time, and this time it was missing a topping. If dude would have spent less time having an attitude and paying attention then maybe he would have gotten my order correctly. Even worse than that I forgot to mention not only was he fixing sandwiches, he also dug through my sandwich with his gloves which was also very unsanitary and a health code violation started cooking sandwiches with those same unchanged gloves. Absolute horrible experience will not be returning. Jersey Mike's customer service could definitely stand to be better but I would take that over Woody's any day. Smh. These businesses keep failing to realize the importance of hiring and training quality employees, who in turn fail to deliver good customer service, which is so very important. Word of advice, customer service is at the core if your business, it can make or break it. Do better....
Read moreAs Long time woody’s customer (1979). I was taken back by the behavior of a particular employee. On Sunday 11/5/23 around 2pm. My son and I along with his service dog stop at the Monroe DR location to grab a cheesesteak 11/5/23 after going to the park. I asked a lady in the kitchen ( Through screen door) if she could take my order here rather than bring my son and his SERVICE DOG inside since the space is so small. She replied rudely that dog’s were not allowed inside (Stella had on her service ID collar). I explained that Service Dogs are allowed and I’m just trying to be courteous due to the small space. She continued with NO Dogs were allow. I told her she needs to have a better understanding of the law. She kept on talking until a coworker interrupted her and ask her to drop it. She then looked at us and said since you know so much why you even asking … just go on in. We did and after placing order with the same man who intervened. she came to the window and ask for my son Service Dog ID . I was happy to show it to her and did. I would suggest Woody’s train their employees of the laws pertaining to service animals. Regardless of my sons service dog, this employee needs Customer Service training. Denied access to a person and their service animal is against the law and could have had serious consequences in the future. I will continue to dine at Woody’s as I never had a problem in the 24 years. I will continue to bring my son and his...
Read moreAfter 15 years of driving past this spot, I finally stopped by.
Let's start in the parking lot - there are two small parking lots on each side of the building, but it's totally on a slope. I'm in a wheelchair, so getting inside was difficult. To the point where I had to ask another patron to assist because I kept rolling downward.
Next - is the ordering process. There's no clearly marked signage indicating where the line begins. So if you're on the main side of Virginia Ave (near the light to turn) you'll have to walk around to the other door. Once inside, it's really small, and it's a cut-and-dry ordering system. You order, stand back and wait for your name to be called, and chose to eat in or take out.
Inside, there are maybe 6-7 tables for seating, but PLENTY outside seating. Which I'm sure is great in the warmer months.
Finally, the food. I ordered the chicken, Philly. It was a really nice-sized sandwich, but no big whoop in flavor. It was cheesy, but my bread was a bit greasy to the point where I couldn't pick it up with my hands. I had to eat it with a fork. I feel like it needed more peppers too. But that's just me being picky.
For those who enjoy a really good and authentic Philly, this might not be the place to go. But if you're in the area and want something to hold you over for the time being ... make your...
