Whenever I am near Buckhead, thereās only one restaurant I think about going: Cafe Agora. I trust the authenticity of the food from here. And always looking forward to the rice puddling they give at the end. I post a lot of Asian food and rarely Mediterranean, so I look forward to learn & share more in the future.
Dolma has a pleasant fresh tarte taste, itās soft and filling (since itās stuffed with rice). First time having grape leaves and everything works together very well. I recommend at least trying this at least once.
Hummus aināt strong in flavor like the ones you get at the store (which can be overly salted). The flavor hits in the after taste. Light in color so you know itās fresh.
Sigara Boregi Beef - imagine crispy spring rolls thatās savory and packed with beef whenever you take a bite, then you will like this. Wish this came in fours so we donāt have to split the last one.
Chicken Shish Kebab is a classic dish. Iām a lamb lover but chicken was tasty too. I always enjoy the fresh greens they serve with it.
Lamb Shank (dinner menu) - I crave this dish but I canāt get it alone. The lamb is soft & perfectly cooked off the bone. The tomato sauce is delicious but the tartness can be overwhelming. The only veggies are roasted tomato and green bell pepper. This is why I need the salad from my partnerās plate. It makes the dish balanced.
Doner Kebab Plate - not my dish but the fries were fantastic.
Pistachio Baklava - The first time I was served Baklava, it was the size of a brick. When I saw their portion, I was disappointed by the contrast. But learning how sweet this dessert was, itās meant to be a one-biter. This pastry is very sweet & sticky but I enjoy the crispiness on the top.
Sutlac (Turkish Rice Pudding) - They serve a small cup of this when you checkout which is the perfect ending to any meal. I always debate if I should get one togo.

Our party ordered calamari which came with cold marinara sauce, when the menu clearly says garlic sauce. When we asked the first server for the garlic sauce, he said; "that was it." Completely taken back; We asked him again, if that was garlic sauce? Waiter proceeded to say that was their garlic sauce. We asked a second server what kind of sauce it was, she told us it was tomato sauce and was thrown off when we told her what her co-worker had advised us. We then asked if they were out of garlic sauce, to which she quickly agreed that their was no garlic sauce. We asked for lemon, and then the wait began. Third server passes by, we asked for lemon. Still no lemon. Fourth server passes by, asked for lemon yet again and we eventually got "lime." Really?! Our food finally comes out with our second server and a reluctant apology for the unwanted lime vs not lemon. We gratified her for noticing and she abruptly answered back with; "as you can look around, we're busy."
Days letter, we see that someone felt the need to add a $5 tip to both bills. When a three way call between the bank, Cafe Agora and myself was placed to dispute the charge; the owner hung up on us without saying a word for the act.
Truth be told that was completely unnecessary. The owner was addressed. Apparently, this is acceptable in his business. Any smart and respectable person would seek business elsewhere, especially when you are paying for a service.
Don't waste your time and money. Their are several similar restaurants in the area that offer better food and service; plus they won't try to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time and I must say that I was really impressed with how well the food was prepared. My children are fairly young and can be particular but, they ate everything on their plates and my oldest enjoyed the salad so much that he asked me to order a second one for him which he promptly finished. It was a little pricey (not for the area but for a single parent) but we got so much food it was worth it. It's very charming, rustic and cozy on the inside. The older gentleman that I assumed was the owner was very nice to us and my children told me later that he reminded them of an "excited grandpa"! If you go, try the rice pudding - - it melts in your mouth. The one negative I would have to say was the valet person. He wasn't nice to us at all....actually, he was a jerk and treated me as if I got on his nerves. I almost left because of him but the older gentleman greeted me at the door when I came in to look at the pricing on a menu. He was kind to me so I reconsidered and stayed. When we got ready to leave, it was raining pretty badly and that same valet stepped in front of us as we were leaving with his umbrella. He walked the family ahead of us to their car then returned and just stood. I decided to go ahead out and he watched us go out into the rain then once we got into the car came outside and waited umbrella open and waiting for the next car to pull in. My daughter (8 years old) asked me why he didn't walk us to the car and I just told her that those types of people are unhappy and try to make you feel bad because they do and I quickly changed the subject to how good the food was. Despite his ugliness, we will be back. I'll just park my own car and keep my usual valet tip of $20...
