Actually really liked the workout, just explained to my workout partner today that I was thinking of getting a membership after getting back from out of town, as we were just finishing up our three class first timer pack. Although, now I won’t be doing that. Was sent a text message reminder about the “free shake” you receive on your last class prior to class. Didn’t really know how this worked, so inquired with the front desk upon checking in. The girl told me to fill out a piece of paper on the counter over by the shakes. The shake was ready after class and was pretty good, nothing to rave about. A couple hours later we noticed that we were charged 11 dollars for the shake. I was like…. Well, no worries. They must’ve just had a mix up, I’ll call up there. Expected an easy fix. Though when I spoke to the front desk, she acted as if this was not an easy fix at all. Said they don’t do refunds, said I could get a shake at my next class. I didn’t want this, as I currently had no membership, and literally only got the shake because it was offered to me as being free. I was put on hold to speak to the manager (though heard the entire convo as I wasn’t actually put on hold). Manager gets on the phone and also reassures me that there are no refunds and that I should’ve wrote in a “comment section” when filling out the shake form that it was supposed to be free. How on earth would I know to do that if I was never told? I actually even inquired at the front desk upon checking, which the manager tried to deny hearing when we checked in. Then, after being insistent on the refund, she agrees to it while assuring me that they offer no refunds at that studio. Why the hell would I ever want a refund for anything other than being charged for a shake I only ordered because I was told it was free? lol. Very, very strange and unexpected situation. Will NOT being getting any membership with that type of management.
Update: The GM followed up with me and was very apologetic about the experience and welcomed me back to the studio with a free class. It was very nice of them to reach out, and...
Read moreThe best way to describe Barry’s is chaotic energy. I tried this workout for the first time and am personally not a fan for several reasons. First, I signed up for a class with a group, but they had difficulty finding my class registration when I went to check-in. Most of us with the group were new to Barry’s and I found it disappointing that there was no proper introduction to the studio or class format. The room is so dark and music is incredibly loud, so the lack of introduction by the instructor made it difficult to keep track of what was going on. I didn’t even realize when we were transitioning from the floor back to the tread because no one explained the class flow. Also, since the instructor is leading a treadmill group and floor group at the same time, it’s hard to follow the right instructions especially with the loud music. There were no modifications provided for the tread or floor. I run regularly, albeit not on a treadmill, and fell during a high speed sprint, badly skinning both of my knees. The instructor barely checked on me then or throughout the workout. I wasn’t the only one who struggled either. Finally, there was no correction to form for the floor workout or guidance given as to number of reps. This caused more confusion and makes for high injury potential, as illustrated. Barry’s is honestly such an overrated and impersonal workout. It felt totally corporate and not even like a good workout to be worth the astronomical price. I don’t think I’ll be back or recommend Barry’s to others especially with plenty of other better HIIT studios in the area like Bach, The...
Read moreI love Barry’s so much. I wish it was more affordable so I could go every week. Their instructors are all 12/10. None of them are lacking. The music is good. The workout kicks my butt. The smoothies are chefs kiss delicious (but expensive).
They are so professional and all of the staff remembers me even though I do not go as regularly as I’d like. One time I was running too fast, fell, and sliced open my elbow on the treadmill (trying to beat my boyfriends distance, dumb on my part). The staff couldn’t have been kinder about it. Their #1 priority was making sure I was okay. They told me stories about worse things that have happened to heal my ego lol. They refused to let me clean up my own blood, which was EVERYWHERE. God bless the poor girl who did clean it up.
Stephanie does a killer job of running this place and she’s...
