Mike B's Cafe — Restaurant in Atlantic City

The staff: We dined in and the waitress was sweet and kind. Mike is an awesome chef and he makes amazing food.

Atmosphere: The area is middle of the city, middle of a block. It’s a lot of in and out traffic of a variety of people. This is not a glamorous experience, but trust me sometimes the best food comes from a paper plate 😃 I would recommend takeout if you are unfamiliar with urban areas or just want a quiet breakfast to savor the heavenly food.

The food: Now for the most important thing, the food. The waffles were crispy, sweet, made with love. I don’t know how else to describe them, I’ve never had waffles like this. They reminded me of a crispy vanilla cake and once you add the syrup you are going to fall in love.

The fried chicken is fresh, crispy and made to order. It’s very flavorful, soul food fried chicken. We tried both wings and tenders. The wings were on the small side this day so they gave me an extra wing to make up for that ( I love the attention to detail in that regard).

The scrambled eggs were both creamy and crispy at the same time. Perfection

The grits were smooth, creamy, no lumps. Full of buttery goodness and cheese.

I chose potato bread toast and even that was amazing too.

They have a lot of meat options, you can get pork, turkey or beef bacon. Pork or beef sausage. Lots of swappable options if you’re meatless. I wish I had the room to try more of the menu, I will be back.

We needed an inexpensive breakfast since we’ve spent way too much for breakfast in the resorts. So I googled and yelped somewhere close or on our way out of AC.

We had to park in the strip malls parking lot and walk over. The area is a little sketchy, I would not want to walk through in the dark…

We got to the restaurant and it really is a hole in the wall! There were several fans on high, no AC. We almost turned around and walked out, but we were hungry and it’s just breakfast, it shouldn’t take long. There are 4 two seater tables and 1 that can hold 3 but has supplies on it. There was just another couple there when we walked in. As we ordered and waited a party of 3 and 4 walked in and grabbed the other tables. Another party of 3 sat at the bigger table but walked out after a few mins. Too bad for them, they missed a good breakfast.

2 meat platter - Corned Beef Hash and Sausage with 2 Eggs, Home fries and Toast - corned beef was crispy, unlike other places that serve them soggy. Home fries were delicious, I usually never touch them, but these were so good. The 2 Eggs were nicely seasoned, you don’t see that elsewhere.

Shrimp and Grits were perfect - I honestly was not expecting fried shrimp but it works and was really good. The grits were perfect, not watery and not dry, also seasoned so I didn’t have to fight with the bowl to flavor it lol

This place was top two off our list of where to go for breakfast while in Atlantic City. We chose here and I’m glad we did! The atmosphere is definitely giving in the hood but that doesn’t bother me none. I went in while the hubby found parking, I was greeted by the woman at the counter she asked how many and said I could sit where I liked. Being that we aren’t from here we asked the people next to use what was good on the menu. They said they never had anything bad so I ordered a omelette with tomato, spinach and provolone it was banging. It came with home fries, wheat toast that they actually spread the jelly for you…I loved that!!! The hubby ordered The Hungry Man let’s just saying he smashed it mind you he does eat eggs because nobody even makes them right…Well he loved them and the Pancakes were perfect to the point you really didn’t need a ton of syrup…..We didn’t take pictures because we went live on Instagram this is one place that we will visit again….The staff was nice and very easy to talk too. Side note: My husband drop a $20 bill and the woman gave it to him , he definitely didn’t realize that he had drop it our food came $29 and some...
