EXTREMELY disappointed at a recent visit I made to an IHOB restaurant located in Aurora, IL. Stephanie Amaro Liz A. and I, arrived to the Rt.59 location at around 1:50 am on 6/24/18 to dine in.
Upon arriving there was a long line of over 15 people all waiting to pay (we asked them), so I proceeded to walk in and find a table because the cashier (named Bianca Stevens) seemed too busy to seat us. As I’m walking in she says from behind the counter “uh can you please wait to be seated”. To which I responded”oh well I’m sorry I didn’t see the sign”. She then rudely and sarcastically says “well the sign is right there”. Instead of guiding the customer through the IHOB experience she reacted with a nasty attitude. I told my friends out loud “well I guess tonight we also have to put up with some attitude “. She (the IHOB employee) then turns around and starts confronting me verbally in a very condescending way and says “oh so I have an attitude huh” , to which I agree. Seemingly upset she tells me she is the manager and that we are not gonna get served.
I was very appalled by her reaction so I keep walking in and ask another employee if she could serve us but evidently she wasn’t going to go against her superior’s senseless orders which is understandable . We finally find a nice gentleman (named Jose) who agreed to serve us and tells us to pick any table, so we found a table and sat down.
After a few minutes Bianca walks over, tells us we’re not getting served, and asked us to leave or she would call the police. I asked her on what means she was kicking us out. Her reason for kicking us out was because I was “rude”. If I am correct SHE was the one that talked to a customer the way no customer should ever be talked to, which is why I pointed out her lack of customer service skills.
I calmly and respectfully refused to leave and she proceeded to call the police. Once the police got there they checked my ID, listened to our dilemma but unfortunately, because it is a private establishment she had the right to deny service and they still asked us to leave.
To avoid any legal consequences we decided to leave but nevertheless the incident was humiliating, and utterly disappointing.
I have never been mistreated in such a way at any IHOB before. As a matter of fact during past late night visits when there is low personnel, I have seated myself before to which employees have never objected. They simply come over and serve us.
The problem was not IHOB’s seating policy. The problem was the disservice the manager provided over me pointing out her “attitude”. She absurdly asked one of her employees, whom had already agreed to seat us after I made him aware of the “situation”, to also deny us service.
I am in disbelief that she would go to the extent of calling law enforcement officers just to prove a point and mend her ego. UNBELIEVABLE.
IHOB seriously needs to reconsider their choice of a manager. What do you do as a customer when the individual who is supposed to be the highest provider of customer service at an establishment is not playing that part?!?!
Absurd. Simply absurd. #IHOP #IHOB...
Read moreIt was on Friday, May 30th. My daughter had just graduated from eight grade and we had attended her promotion ceremony to celebrate her transition into high school during the morning. Following the ceremony, we decided to come to IHOP to further celebrate not just my daughter but also my son who had just graduated from highschool that earlier Sunday. We have been to IHOP as a family for decades and since my children were in the cradle so it’s truly heart-wrenching how this review came to be. Once we arrived, the place was quite busy with customers many of whom were also other graduates celebrating their achievements. We ordered two omelettes and a chocolate pancakes with sides of hashbrowns and toast bread. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we got our orders but when my husband got his order after joining us a little later. There was clear mold forming on the bread toast. We showed the server and she told us we would get a 20% discount when we returned. We won’t be using that discount anytime soon. But the issue is that afterwards heading home, me and my daughter felt nauseous, and ended up throwing up in the bathroom. My daughter was okay after a while, but I decided to go to the hospital to check up my my health and had found out that I was subject to food poisoning and had to stay overnight for some further testing. Because of our experience at IHOP, my family has been subject to health risks and stress, I even missed my client I was supposed to do in the morning because of the incident. Don’t be surprised if I pursue legal action, this was an awful and stressful experience for me and...
Read moreA couple of my friends and I decided to go here after our homecoming dance for just a nice, relaxing rest of night. When we sat down we had started looking at the menu figuring out what to get and then the waitress, Leticia, came over to ask what we wanted, we decided to start off with some drinks first and then continue to figure out what we wanted after she had to left to go get them. We waited about a min since most of us just got water but I got a milkshake and even that was kind of water down a little, but when we ordered our actual food it took her about half an hour to even come over and acknowledge that we had ordered food since she forgot. While waiting we had no napkins, utensils, and straws so we sat there waiting till finally which I presume as the manager came over to assist us. I didnt get his name unfortunately, but he was very kind and checked up on us every few mins to see how we were doing. We started to notice that it seemed like he was doing everything that night while all the other employees were in the back doing who knows what. When we were pretty much done with our food, Leticia, came over to see how the food was for the first time since we ordered the food and again that was about almost at this point an hour 30 mins. It wasn't really a busy night, possibly 4 tables were occupied but there were more than enough waitresses and waiters to assist instead of the manager having to do every little thing. I haven't been to IHOP in years so finally coming back to the place it didn't feel...
