Sub-par food. Poor customer service. Lack luster presentation. Lucky to get any stars.
Truly a let down eating here, and I will never return. I am in the area frequently for work and finally decided to try the Burger Bar, but it hardly meets minimum expectations. Especially for the price.
I ordered a special Waygu burger, but it was pointless to use waygu (not sure if they even used waygu). The patties were so thin and overcooked, it could’ve been any beef, and felt like a school cafeteria burger.
Service was frustrating at best. I ordered a special burger, and fries via mobile order. Upon arrival the workers were disorganized at finding my order. I asked the guy working the cash register and he pointed me to a lady at the end of counter, I went to her and she yelled my name at the guy working the register. Register guy then got my food from under the counter.
There was a large number of small cups of mustard and catsup next to the lady working the end of the counter. I asked her for a mustard and she pointed me to fill my own from a large plastic pump container. Why could she not give me one of the dozens already made?
Worst of all was asking for a water. One worker started to fill a cup of water for me, then the guy working the register told him to empty the cup and claimed they only sell bottles of water. I reminded him that I am a customer and just made a purchase and would just like a cup of water. He said he is just following policy and can’t give me a water. It is a law in Austin to give customers a cup of water upon request. I reminded the cash register guy that it is law, and he got very defensive saying he would not fill a cup of water for me. Luckily the other worker finally filled a cup for me.
This was hardly better than McDonald’s in quality of food, and the...
Read moreMy best friend was the one to recommend this place to me; and after a solid few trips to try their burgers, fries, and drinks together, I've gotta say this place is hella yummy! I'm a huge sucker for their sweet potato fries, and I love that they've got a very decent vegan burger option (the veggie freak!) They also make some scrumpdiddlylicious strawberry lemonades! Though I will say, I've had a few issues with ordering both online and at the in-person tablet each time I've visited. Certain items (like the aforementioned veggie freak or their shakes) on their menus are either out of stock, or don't even show as an option to order regardless of availability ;( I don't get to visit this place very often; but even when I'm not able to enjoy what I wished they had in stock, the people working are always super kind and helpful. I appreciate the work they put into their food and I can't tell you how amazing it is that they're open until 1am most nights (2am on Fridays/Saturdays.) I'm an overnight worker and it's so very accommodating to not have to mess with my sleep schedule to enjoy good food on my nights off. This is a place I'll absolutely continue to visit and I honestly can't wait for my next time ordering :) I genuinely hope to see their vegan menu expand, and to finally get to try their shakes asap, as well as see this place get to love...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went to Burger Bar to grab a quick bite before a comedy show at Speakeasy. Our experience was so bad, I dont even know how this place stays open or has the reviews it does. We waited over a half an hour for 2 burgers and some fries. Other people waiting for their food were visibly frustrated, too, it was taking so long. In the time we waited, I asked a worker if burgers come with mayo on them, as I didn’t want mayo on mine, and the woman working said they didn’t. I eventually get my burger with mayo slathered all over it. I bring it back, and ask them to quickly make me a burger so that we can get on with our night. When my burger was “ready,” the guy at the counter handed me a burger on a bun and nothing else—no lettuce, tomato, onion—not a single thing. I actually thought he was joking it was so pathetic. I wish I would've taken a picture of it to attach it to this review. At this point, I just took the sorry excuse for a hamburger so we wouldn’t miss our show and ate the perimeter of it, as the inside was still raw. I’ve had dining experiences that weren’t good but never one that was genuinely pathetic. I could’ve hopped over the counter and done a quicker, better job blindfolded with my hands behind my back. The fries were at least...
