I absolutely love Chi'lantro and have never really had a bad experience at any of the stores...until I came to this location.
I had seen on Instagram that they were having a limited time tortilla soup and I was so excited to try it. When I ordered it the guy helping me looked really confused, he walked off and talked to another employee then came back and was kind of scrambling around putting my soup together. Considering it was a new item I didn't think much of it. I bought the soup and drove no more than 4 minutes to my apartment. I was disappointed to find my soup was completely cold when I got home.
I don't own a microwave so this was especially disappointing. I hate complaining about food or returning things and I WAS really excited for this soup so I just sat there for a minute considering just eating it cold. After a couple bites I decided I would just go back and see if they could replace it for me.
I arrived at the store a second time at 9pm. I noticed their grill was clean and everything in their work area had been cleaned and put away. I explained my situation to one gentleman, a different one, and he offered to make it again for me. I hesitated since it would obviously make a mess for them again. As I was thinking about a better solution (like maybe just getting something that wouldn't dirty their clean dishes) the guy that originally helped me very rudely shouted "Refund! Refund! Does she want a refund?" So I just took the refund and went to Chick-fil-a.
I work in the food industry. I understand what closing time is like and how awful it is to get customers close to that time but I originally went in around 8:15-8:30, they dont close until 10. I was very disappointed and I dont think I'll be returning to this location even though its closest to...
Read moreThis is a small establishment located in a shopping area off of Burnet. The decor is very cute and the customer service is outstanding. Ordering is done at the counter and they brought the food to our table which was a nice touch.
This visit we ordered:
The original Kimchi Fries: These are as good as all the reviews read they are. It is a very filling dish and should be considered an entree instead of a side dish. The french fries are perfectly cooked and loaded with toppings. The kimchi is absolutely scrumptious and they do not skimp on the cheese. We ordered the Ribeye beef with it for $1 more and it was worth it - the flavors in that beef just perfect. All of these toppings complimented well with each other and the fries.
Korean Fried Chicken Wings with a side of their spicy ranch: Some of the best wings ever. That Gangnam sauce was out of this world delicious. The large chicken wings, cooked perfectly. Surprisingly - as I am not a ranch dressing fan - their spicy ranch was the best ranch dressing I have ever had, not too spicy and very flavorful.
Strawberry Limeade: Although the flavor was good, it was watered down a lot.
Previously I have ordered via a delivery service:
Noodle Bowl: Loved the noodles in the noodle bowl, so unexpected but soo very good. They do not skimp on their toppings for sure and I highly recommend this dish.
Tacos: Served with two tacos and your choice of flour or corn tortillas or one of both. These are some of the biggest tacos ever and best.
Don't forget to bring your plastic as no locations...
Read moreChi'Lantro serves amazing Mexican-Korean fusion food. I'm a fan of their marinated tofu in particular, which is probably some of the best tofu I've ever had both in terms of texture and flavor. They now provide a choice of rice or noodles for your bowl, which provides a bit of variety to the bowl building experience. I'm not usually a fan of fusion food, but this is actually really well done.
All that being said, if you do decide to go to Chi'Lantro, I cannot recommend this location. We arrived an hour before closing and the employees were already more focused on cleaning up and getting out of there than serving us our food. My husband ordered kimchi fries, which they failed to make for him and then promised they would prepare and bring out to our table--but they didn't, until we were done eating and walked up to the counter to check on them. They did eventually give us the fries we'd paid for, but it took forever, and again, most of the time we were there, they were cleaning up and closing up (we left with 30 minutes to spare before closing too). They were also pretty rude to us when we ordered, so all in all the experience was off-putting. I guess I'll look forward to when my job caters Chi'Lantro, because I won't be going back into the...
