The bartender and manger at this bar are very rude. I recommend going too one of the many other bars. This car is located in the east side of town, where drink prices are typically more reasonable, but okay. When i ordered a tequila soda, i watched the bartender and was not satisfied with the pour. I melted it to her before even tasting my drink. Instead of satisfying me, the customer, she immediately got defensive and rude with me. I obviously kept my composure, because whatever, not a big deal, accepted the bad drink, and stood there and guzzled in 2 seconds. I then requested a shot, and poured that into my glass, then asked her to top that off with soda, finally, i had a true pour. Before closing out and leaving i asked the bartender why she was so rude about it. She explained itās disrespectful for a patron to mention anything about the way a drink is made, continued to raise her voice at me and asks me to sign my bill and leave. Hmmm okay. The manger, who i asked to speak to, wasnāt any more receptive to having a conversation. Austin used to be a kinder place. Idk whatās happening. But there are plenty of great venues further down the street that are more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll start off by apologizing to the owner for this bad review, unless the owner was the incredibly rude female bartender working on the night of Friday, December 14th, 2018...
I approached the bar and ordered a whiskey with water, she asked if I wanted it on the rocks and I said "yes please, with ice". She wasn't happy with my terminology and asked (obviously annoyed with me) "you mean on the rocks?". We were saying the same thing, so I said "sure, whatever you want to call it". Then she overheard me say to my date that we would go to another bar after this round I thought I had ordered. She became very offended and refused to serve me. She said "I just heard you say you were going to leave, so leave".
We were bar hopping, I don't think people usually walk into bars with the intention of committing to that bar for the entirety of the night, so I never said anything offensive or even remotely directed at her.
She sized me up from the beginning and decided she didn't like me.
I was happy to leave after being treated like that and I'm disappointed to say I won't go back because of that awful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLatchkey is hands down my favorite bar not only on 6th, not only in Austin, but favorite ever. The decor is amusing, thereās plenty of space both within the comfortble establishment itself and on the patio outside, room enough for some cornhole if youāre into that, and the ecclectic crowd it draws is demonstrated in what they put on TV; one night I went in and saw a hockey game on one TV and the Avengers playing on another. What else could you ask for?
Apart from the location, the staff alone deserve the high rating. Iāve yet to speak to someone unfriendly or unwelcoming, and even after only going twice the bouncer remembered me and was VERY friendly when I brought family to visit and check out the place. I canāt speak highly enough of them.
If you are still not convinced, you are wrong, but there is one last draw to this absolutely Austin gem, the food truck out back. Do yourself a favor and try the deep-fried bacon. Youāre welcome in advance. Latchkey, Iāll see you...
