This was definitely a wow experience for us.
We came here for our 5th anniversary. From the time we arrived to the time we left, it felt like the entire restaurant staff was celebrating with us. Everyone knew what we were celebrating and had well wishes for us. They, to our surprise, even had specially printed restaurant menus that commemorated our anniversary.
The restaurant manager came to our table, remembered that we were coming, and wished us a happy anniversary. He also came and checked on us several times throughout the night to ensure everything was going well. He was very personable and made us feel as if we were almost friends by the end of the night.
Our waiter was top notch. Clearly very good at his job and also very personable. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the specials and was able to succinctly and descriptively inform us of our various menu choices. When we made our choices, he genuinely made us feel like we had made the best decisions anyone has ever made. Like we know it's part of his job to "sell" the dishes on the menu, but he really authentically made us feel good about what we would be eating, as if he was just as excited as we were.
Our cups were never empty, and he ensured throughout the multiple courses that we had all the silverware needed, including proactively replacing what was used or missing. He also made sure to wrap up our specially printed menus with ribbon for us to take home as a keepsake.
The vibe/ambiance/lighting of the restaurant is very roaring-20s-fancy-restaurant. It almost feels like you've stepped back in time and are going to the upscale restaurants you only see in movies.
The food was amazing. Each item, from the bread and appetizers to the main course and dessert was impeccably prepared and presented. The steaks were some of the most tender steaks we've ever had, and definitely beat out certain other steakhouses like Ruth's Chris. We ordered familiar dishes, but each one had a unique flavor aspect to it that made it special from those same dishes at other restaurants.
Morton's is absolutely the place you want to celebrate your...
Read moreIf you’re going to spend $200 somewhere, spend it somewhere else. If zero stars is possible, that’s what I give this place. It was my girlfriends 21st birthday so we made reservations here assuming it was fancy and she could dress up and have some fun. Yes, they’re fancy alright.. well they tried at least. I felt like I was at a Dennys when I was introduced to the GM Patrick. The prices are out of control which I was prepared for. (sides ain’t included in the $100 meal fyi) but the service didn’t match the atmosphere at all. I have never felt more insulted in my life. The general manager Patrick’s was rude, trying to be so matter or fact almost got him cussed out. And his side kick Tim was no better. He approached our table with immediate interrogation questions about where I work and how I know so much about the restaurant business and “why did I chose Morton’s and not my own restaurant to eat at.?” After 6 years of waitressing I have NEVER heard a manager ask a table why they chose to eat there and then swiftly state that he must leave the table before things get “out of hand” as if he was going to fight me and my two friends. When I went up to the host stand to file my first complaint of my life, the hostess was rude and in the middle of me speaking decided to take another customer she must’ve woke up on the wrong side of the bed as if the manager was her man and I was insulting her. The young man up there also had a matter of fact - “I don’t feel like helping you” attitude that needed some serious adjustment if you’re going to be standing in the front of an establishment. Again, I’m a nice respectful person but these people tested my last nerve and almost made me cause a scene in a “nice” place. The GM lied about his menu as well.. just keeps getting better and better. Just a terrible terrible establishment. We left immediately and talked about it for majority of the night, we were flabbergasted and embarrassed for them in all honesty. I felt they were racist as well just to...
Read moreWe love this restaurant. I'm a little disturbed by some other reviews that focus so much on price. If price is your concern, you probably shouldn't be going to Morton's or any of its peers for dinner. If you fill up on bread and order an entree' with water only, you'll still pay $100 for two. Add wine, sides, and the must-have desserts and you may get close to $200.
The atmosphere is relaxed elegant - or casual elegant. One of the reasons we love it here is that t-shirt and shorts on a hot summer day are as common as suits and ties for business meetings. Morton's is unpretentious in its welcome of guests.
The service, in keeping with the atmosphere, is professional and friendly, and is customer-first-focused. If there's the slightest problem, one can alert a manager and be sure it will be handled in short order.
That being said, I was also disturbed about some other user comments about service. If you aren't pleased and don't address it with the manager immediately, shame on you. This is not Outback, and the experience shouldn't be judged on folksy servers or meals-in-an-hour. It's a dining experience. Plan on two hours and enjoy.
Look for their sometimes-unpublished specials: Steak and Seafood for $99 - includes two salads, two seafood apps, two steaks, two sides and two desserts. A great meal for two for a very reasonable price for a very filling meal. The steak is a filet, but some seafood substitutions and steak upgrades are available. They have some other off-the-menu deals as well.
We our frequent steakhouse diners. In Baltimore, we have found this to be the best overall combination of atmosphere, service, food, and price. Server Brent is always...
