When we got tickets to the Sunday 7/16 O's game we immediately decided to go to our favorite downtown spot for an O's pregame lunch. 5 adults and 4 kids. We got there around 11:30 am. We were quickly seated upstairs. the place did not look to be all that busy. the 3 guys ordered draft beers first. They were served slightly cooler then room temperature, but no where near as cold as they should be. Thought this was odd considering the Keg had to have been chilling all night. We where told the Kids drinks would come out as soon as the server had a chance to go up the the 3rd floor to get more kiddie cups. then we placed out food orders. Told again about having to go get the kids cups. Then we were asked if we wanted another round of beers. My son said no - how about a Mojito? - No sorry - we cant make that.... WHAT????? Ok well lets go with 3 Orange crush. Well - wont be ordering those again. OO ok now the kids finally get their drinks. but now we are told that they do not have any chicken tenders to make the 2 orders we put in. Ok Manager comes over and asks if they would like to see a menu - then brings us one. Ok there must be a menu shortage too. so my daughter in-law decides to order the crab pretzel instead of the chicken tenders -- ooo wait. they don't have pretzels either. WTH. Ok we get all the orders in and we wait........ here comes the foo d- looks like they got everything right...... Wait - where is the 3 yr old's mac and cheese? - ....... sorry - we'll get that right on that . we begin to eat . Ale house Chicken sandwich .was tasty but dry. boneless chicken bites were average at best. kids did not like their grilled chesses - they were kind of cold. and the wings were overcooked but not hot when they were served. by the time we were all just about done -- the mac and chesses for the 3 yr old finally arrived. Its a shame that one of our favorite places will likely be a distant memory like so many...
Read moreGreat place for a cold beer to relax with any day of the week. In addition to this one, the Pratt Street Ale House, owners Don Kelly and Justin Dvorkin have several other venues in the general vicinity. In Hampden, Baltimore, Maryland, there is the 5 and 10. The Ale House is in Columbia Maryland. Furthermore they own the Park Tavern in Severna Park Maryland. These are all slightly different in decor, menu, atmosphere, and profile to fit in with the local culture. They are definitely a go-to place anywhere you are around the Baltimore metropolitan area.
To finish off the story of the wedding party which you saw in the picture of the group of celebrating, cheering, fun-loving New Yorkers, there is a little bit more to say about the whole situation. I hope it encourages you to believe that not everything is a coincidence, but that things happen for a reason. Just three days ago, last Thursday, I happened to give a ride with Uber for Kayla at the same address where I had picked her up a few weeks ago. This time she was going with Collin to the rehearsal dinner for the wedding. I called Uber driver support to see if I could perchance give them a ride on Sunday afternoon back to either the train station or the airport, which was not possible to guarantee. To make a long story short I thought of taking some pictures of not only the restaurant, but also of some customers, to liven up the post. So I somehow, by happenstance, ended up at their table. Cool story? I think so, and hope you do too. There is a lot to Charm City which doesn't meet the eye. Maybe it can be called mysterious, or intriguing to say the least. Ever wonder why Edgar Allan Poe is buried here, and his house is a National Monument just...
Read moreThe declared place as planned for the Baltimore dinner experience for my first evening in Baltimore (hopefully not the last). Already before we went in, a beautiful and clean building on the outside with a shiny and apparently fresh paint job and cute windows. Plus the place is nested right by the Baltimore Harbor. Inside, it was a dim lit ambience with the American and beautiful Maryland flags painted on the brick walls. The hostesses were very excited to have us walk in and seated us with smiles. The on-site brewed beers were just a small notch below our spoiled San Francisco Bay Area tastes, but they certainly do have humorous names (as I write back home in San Francisco haven forgotten the funny names of the beers). But yes, the beers absolutely were still tasty, refreshing and in addition BALTIMORELY UNIQUE. The humor in the names shows that they care, thus definitely a lot better and more fun than the Budweiser types etc. The food was presentably plated as if striving to win on the Food Network's "Chopped." I had the wedge salad. I enjoyed it and digestively felt good after this refreshing light dinner with refreshing beer, yet even though I could taste room for improvement in the freshness of ingredients category. One more fun factor about this place was our waitress Keionna. She was knowledgeable and patient with a glow of laughter you can hear in her voice and see in her smile. I get the impression that she had fun with us despite our time-consuming ordering decisions. To summarize, with the acknowledgement of use of not the freshest ingredients, this is probably the most generous 5-star review I have ever written, for how I had a genuinely fun memorable Baltimore experience at Pratt Street...
