Didn’t expect it to be special when walking past en route to eating at another place. But I saw the Specials, especially the lobster roll with cup of chowder for $32, and thought, “I still haven’t had a lobster roll while in Maine.” Mental note. We went to another place for a coffee and found they weren’t doing breakfast anymore. My son said, “Lunch soup and sandwich! That’s what I want.” I chimed in that I already knew what I was having. My wife and daughter said, yeah, all right. All of us were so happy we came here. From Boston to Bar Harbor with many stops along the way, my son said, “I love the vibe here(at Lunch). This is my favorite place yet.” #3 for him: prosciutto, Gorgonzola, fig jam, walnut butter sandwich Shared bowl of clam chowder with my wife. #5 for her: Black Forest ham, apple, cheddar, balsamic glaze My daughter had #6: Muenster, mozzarella, cheddar grilled cheese sandwich And I had the lobster roll and cup of clam chowder. I’ve been eating lobster along the way, and this was the best tasting lobster I’ve had. I’ve had it in every form so far, but no roll till now. Saved the best for last. And the clam chowder was amazing. Spiced well with pepper, and lots of chunks of clam and potato. I will come here next trip to Acadia.

This no frills restaurant that is only open from 11-4 has the best food we’ve had so far on the trip! The soup was good, but the sandwiches were out of this world. I don’t have a long history of eating lobster rolls so forgive the ignorant statement I’m about to write, but I’m always disappointed when they’re served on just a plain hot dog bun. This one WAS on a hot dog bun but it was toasted in butter and seasoned and made a world of difference. The lobster was well seasoned and absolutely delicious even though portion was a bit smaller compared to other lobster rolls I’ve had on the trip. The Italian sandwich, however, is the reason I will be going back. It was a bit messy but DELICIOUS! The crunchy inside of the bun adds a scrumptious texture to the sandwich!

Loved our lunch here! The sandwiches were delicious- I got the lobster roll (served cold) which was excellent. I usually prefer warm lobster rolls but this one was excellently prepared, I would recommend. My husband enjoyed the tandoori chicken sandwich, and we each got a bag of chips. The atmosphere was very casual, which is just what we were wanting towards the end of vacation having been out to eat a lot. The sandwiches took probably 15 ish minutes to come out after we placed our order; considering placing an order ahead of time online if you’re in a rush! We loved the energy of the man taking everyone’s orders! He was witty and fun to chat with. I’d recommend this spot to anyone visiting Bar Harbor!

Acadia as a whole presents and answers a lot of questions. Does paradise on earth exist? Can I afford to live here? Is it really too cold to swim at Sand Beach? Yes,no,yes.

Lunch Bar Harbor presents and answers a whole other question: Does the perfect hot sandwich exist? Definitely, certainly, and unequivocally yes and Lunch is where they’re at. And they are perfect fuel up after a morning of hiking. They are sooo good they will have you asking again: are you SURE I can’t afford to live here just so I can stop in and get one of these every day.

All jokes aside I stoped in as a second choice after our first lunch choice was too busy and I am so glad. I’ve been thinking about these pressed beauties for a month since I’ve returned home. I’ve thought about how I can replicate their recipes just so I can get my fix. If you are in Bar Harbor this is a must try. My group tried four different sandwiches and all of them were just as delicious. But I recommend any of those choices with fruit in them. The combo of the warm fruit and cheese was just the perfect level of sweet and savory.

Only downside is the bathroom doesn’t latch good but that can easily be forgiven when you are pushing the bounds of what can be accomplished between two...

The subs were great! We ordered Italian #2 and took them to one of the many cliff views of the ocean and truly enjoyed our subs. We loved it so much we wanted to get one for the road before our 20 hour drive home. I called on Sunday to see if they would be open Monday. The British sarcasm is a little different for what I am used to but the man answered “Yes we are open 7 days a week like a public restroom” and hung up. My husband and I kind of chuckled but glad it was going to be open for our sub to eat on the road back home. Our check out time was at 10 and according to the Lunch online it opened at 11. So we killed some time and got coffee which I even saw the Lunch owner at about 10:30. We waited for the shop to open at 11 and even waited past the sign hanging on door that said they would return at 11:15. Other customers came by expecting the shop to be open and were just as disappointed as we were. Now it may be closed for the season but we waited till 11:40 and just gave up cause of our ride home. We most definitely will be back if given the opportunity, but just disappointed about it not being open especially after the sarcastic comment the day before. Hope...
