I love me a good slice of za and Pie Hole definitely delivered on that. My mom and I each got a slice then had them cut it in half so we could try each other. She got a "Drunk candy" ham and pineapple and I got slice of their local favorite featuring potato and bacon. I've never had potato on pizza, it was pretty dang good. Pros: * fun, punk atmosphere. There's so much too look at in this itty-bitty establishment * service was super fast, very short line when we went in about 6pm. Ordered and had our slices in less than 5 minutes. * affordable - 2 slices, a soda and bottle of water was $11 and some change. * there's a nice patio with big umbrellas for shade Cons: * both slices could use more sauce * the bathrooms were nasty and smelled like urine. Left me wondering how long it had been since that thing had been cleaned. All in all it was a great experience and the food was good.

Piehole is not only a great spot for a quick bite to eat (or a longer bite to eat as they have seating ok both inside and outside, it is always 'popping' late in the evening especially on weekends. I've met many friends and had some great conversation with strangers at this location. They usually have about 5-8 options for pizza laid out for you to choose from ranging from Pepperoni, Pinnaple (Canadian Bacon), Chicken bake, veggie pizza, etc etc. They have soda fountain drink options as well as a couple fridges packed with various beer options some being local drafts. One downside is that they advertise FREE WIFI but NO ONE I've talked to that works there seems to know the password.

Stopped here for a quick lunch during a conference. Pretty typical pizza by the slice spot with all the usual selections. It reminded me of the place we used to go after the bars at Penn State (without the Marinara options). I got a Canadian bacon & pineapple & a Pepperoni. Both were good & I'd get them again. The ranch is made in-house & was good. They were jamming to some pretty heavy music that wasn't really my speed, but it seemed like the music genre changed every so often, so that helped. The inside is really small, so if it's cold, raining, or snowing (like it was today), go during a slow time bc eating outside may be your only option otherwise.

Typically when going to Pie Hole you will experience a fun and friendly atmosphere with good vibes and people full of positive energy! Last night was definitely an exception! While entering the Pie Hole on 8th and Idaho that was nearly empty last night with my girlfriend we bumped into a friend and were having a friendly conversation in the line to order pizza looking over what we were going to get! After standing there for less than a minute with NO ONE in line behind us the Pie Hole employee started pounding on the pizza window screaming "ARE YOU READY" "WHAT DO YOU GUYS WANT" "WILL YOU HURRY UP AND ORDER ALREADY"! We found this to be pretty different from our typical visit to Pie Hole! So I proceeded to talk to the Manager about the situation, but instead the person I approached was the owner! After explaining how rude their employee was to us and that there was no need for that type of behavior, the OWNER proceeded to say this!

"ALRIGHT THAT'S F$%KING ENOUGH, WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FIRE HER" - Owner of Pie Hole

I was extremely unimpressed how the OWNER of an establishment could handle a situation like this, too be so unprofessional to swear at a guest of his restaurant! You think if there was an issue in your Establishment you would want to be informed of it! Really makes a person feel warm and welcome to come back in for a repeat visit! Maybe instead of attacking a guest take action and discipline your employees! I would imagine in this type of industry you would want to please your guests and build a relationship with them, invite them back, treat them like a friend!

Just thought I would share my experience with everyone and how dissatisfied I was with my visit to the 8th and Idaho Pie Hole in...

Years ago I use to come to the pie hole downtown all the time and it was always cool and unique and friendly.. I don't know what happened to this place but it's depressing to go in there now.. I went for lunch twice in the past few months and both times the employees were awful.. No friendly "hey! what can I get for you?" like it use to be.. I went in today and the tattoo face guy just stared at me and didn't say anything and when I told him what I wanted he silently threw them in the heater and then walked over and said the total, I thanked him, no response, he dropped the slices on the plate a few seconds later, I thanked him, still no response, I sat down and ate and as I was leaving I hollered "Thanks guys!" again, no response.. They just stared at me with no expression, totally dead faced the entire time I was in there.. It was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable.. It's like walking into a sad movie in that place now, back in the day it was high energy and fun and kind of an alternative atmosphere.. Now it's bad attitudes, bad service, depressed employees, depressing music, expressionless staring, uncomfortable silence, it felt like I was in a room full of people on sedatives or heroin or something.. I miss the pie hole from 5 years ago! Bummer deal.. I have quite a few friends who used to be patrons of this place that totally agree with me and none of us are ever planning on going again.. It's sad that a Boise staple is now an eyesore and I'm not sure if the entire staff is like but the lunch staff definitely needs some...

It was nice having a cheap place to eat lunch when I went there. I overlooked the burnt crust and bland toppings understanding I got what I paid for. I stopped going last winter after one of there employees was always unbathed and smelling of old BO and feces. That day I brought it up to the person in charge only to be corrected on the pronoun I used. Apparently they were a they. I'm fine with that but you can't assume I can tell unless you wear a shirt or something. Anyway months went by and I noticed they didn't work there so I started frequenting them again. Things went well until this month when they sold me a frozen beer. I brought it back and asked for a replacement. No apology was given instead the girl (maybe they who knows) scorned me for not throwing it away. I exclaimed I wasn't trying to be rude and just wanted a beer I could drink. She scoffed and slid the beer across the counter at me and curtly said bye and walked away. I was agahst. Was it my button up shirt giving them a signal I was a duche? Did they think I should just take the half frozen half flat beer? I was a regular and they treated me with such disrespect. So I promptly turned my beer over and let it flow all over their counter and walked out never to return again. The guy in charge took time to tell me not to come back but it wasn't necessary. I'll walk to guidos for good pizza and service. For liberal people they must really prejudge people that wear clean clothes or something. Do yourselves a favor and pay an extra buck to go somewhere clean...
