We went to Ginza after a BoiseDev review. We were surprised and amazed at the quality of the food as well as the thoughtful and caring service.
My husband and I are on a heart-healthy diet, as well as a low carb (pre-diabetic) diet. This has become our only restaurant for both physical and mental health. The staff is amazing, kind, and friendly. (we come here at least once a week, so they now know our order).
The miso soup is FANTASTIC (and we were thrilled to hear today that it is vegetarian - no bonito flakes, as we are planning to bring a vegetarian friend). The salad with ginger dressing is delicious, and since we order octopus shashimi, we always put the daikon shreds into the residual dressing for an added treat.
There are only a few things we eat (can't do sushi because of the carbs in the rice, although it has been amazing on our one or two "cheat" days.) But those amazing low-carb, low-saturated-fat things bring us back week after week.
Octopus shashimi is fresh and has sliced lemon that makes the dish our "dessert."
Soft shell crab is AMAZING. (Can't eat it often because it is fried, but we would come here daily if health allowed!)
Our new favorite because of both quality of food and health value is the hibachi. The sauce is delicious, but we order without the sauce because it is teriyaki (salty and sweet). We gravitated to the chicken and salmon, but today ordered the dinner portion of lobster. Every dish we have had is fantastic, but the lobster was epic.
We have had Japanese food in several places, and Ginza is...
Read moreI was excited to order from this new place because my wife and I hadn’t tried it before. It got really good reviews so we figured we’d give it a shot. My wife was downtown and so I figured I would order conveniently from their website. I ordered it at 6 PM and it said it would be ready by 6:30. My wife got there right at 6:30 to pick up the order, but she was informed that the order did not come through from the website. It is 2024 and if you have a website where you can order, this should easily be accomplished by the restaurant. It is very disappointing that my wife had to wait an additional 50 minutes past the original 30 minutes that it would take to receive the food. You would think since the order was missed originally and my wife had to wait an additional 50 minutes for the food, that there would’ve been some concession on our bill. Not the whole bill, maybe not even half the bill, but something. We received nothing in return. Just a..thanks and goodbye. Once my wife returned home. We noticed we did not receive either of the two sushi rolls we ordered (which was about half our food) and the food we did get was subpar, see delicious looking picture of the salmon below. I called the restaurant. I spoke to a nice young man who apologized and refunded my whole order. Although this couldn’t have been a worse experience I appreciate the maturity of the young man on the phone. I have just a simple ask of store management…please remove the customer service nightmare that is the website order...
Read moreI feel like we missed something or caught them on a bad day, but I still want to leave a review. Went there for an early Saturday dinner (edit: in early March), craving good sushi. Got seated right away at a high-top table. The waitress took our order - two cocktails, one nigiri (sushi) plate, and two rolls. We got the cocktails after a while, but then sat there for a very long time without food. After about 20 minutes I looked back at the counter and saw my plate - fresh fish and a roll - already at the pick-up. It sat there, waiting, for another 20(!) minutes without moving. Another waitress came to check on us and told us that the second roll was taking so long because it had to be fried. (Odd. Best theory is that they had to warm up the frier?) It had been at least an hour since we had our orders taken. Eventually, they made the second roll, and brought both it and the other plate to our table.
The older plate was still cold, so I figured it was safe enough and I was starving so I ate it. It was fine. Good cuts of fish but with wasabi on the rice, which I realize happens sometime. I would ask for none if I went again. Unfortunately the freshly fried roll tasted bad. It was a tuna roll, but tasted like canned tuna.
We were really disappointed. It wasn't crazy busy in there, and it didn't look understaffed either. I'm not sure what was up. Other patrons there seemed happy enough.
Edit/Reply to the owner: this happened a few weekends ago, not this weekend. Sorry for...
