Press and Pony is a relaxing, intimate bar. It is located in a shy location to the right of a sports bar. Enter through the doors, go through heavy curtains, and you are immediately transported to a bar that seems caught out of time. Time almost seems to stand-still in the dark and mysterious interior, with cool vintage photos and decor. The drinks were solidly good and might lean a bit more heavily towards things that might appeal to a more traditional palate. (It would be nice to see a few creative non-alcoholic drinks added to the menu.) I had a Ginger Drop which was a fun, tasty little cocktail. This would be a lovely spot to unwind and relax with friends or a romantic evening out for a date.

Nice little place. Love the atmosphere. At the entrance is a curtain you have to walk through. Bar on the left, couple small tables on the right. And a few more small tables in the back. To get to the bathroom you have to walk through a curtain in back which leads directly into the Boise Fry company for their bathrooms. Love the original drinks. Some were very involved to make so it was fun watching them being made. I got the Blood and Sand which was one of the sweeter drinks.

Many an onlooker has had a similar experience passing by this venue: a set of glass doors with a black curtain behind them, obscuring all detail of the area behind it. Is this place even open?

Yes - Press and Pony is open and prepared to serve you a wondrous, upscale cocktail experience that not only bests Boise, but nearly anywhere I've been. Once you accept the fact that the likely drunken clientele will continually produce various demands that overwhelm the very capable mixologists that work here, your patience will reward you.

The drinks here are pretty much perfect, and while you're here you're not only likely to see fiery liquor poured at great distances from copper mug to copper mug, but large, sporadic gusts of fire that you'll feel from several feet away. Press and Pony never ceases to entertain.

I'm failing to find a complaint about this place. This is a MUST TRY for cocktail...

Speakeasies are my partner's jam, and on a staycation weekend, Press and Pony was top on our list. We had never been, and the experience was delightful.

The entrance to the bar is surprisingly well-conceived, and as we were led into the Press and Pony, we couldn't help giggle.

Our bartender, Eric, was terrific. He certainly knows what he is doing. He is knowledgeable and entertaining. His recipes were on point, and his proficiency in cocktail structure allowed him to create delicious bespoke drinks.

The night felt personal and exclusive, which is what we were aiming for. Six out of five stars...
