I'm going to start off with coming to this venue will forever be a core memory for me. I had the most magical time and I do look forward to going back.
We used the phone to get a hold of someone to open the secret door for us. I honestly didn't know what I was in store for but I was completely blown away. The setting of this joint was beautiful. From the fabrics of the bench, the candles to the furniture, it was all breath taking. My ultimate romantic spot. It's delicately lit by all these candles everywhere. You can't help but look at every spot in this joint. You don't want to miss anything pretty.
Jonathan took care of us tonight. He was fantastic! He was on top of our drinks, our water glasses and everything else in between. I appreciate his light hearted attitude and was not shy to talk to us. It made our visit there pleasant!
We started the night off with a charcuterie plate and couple drinks. I grabbed the Queen Pine for my first round. It was light and tropical. It was in a beautiful glass and delicately garnished with mint. The charcuterie plate was devine. The plate had a salty green olives, garlicky crackers, smoked white cheese and salami. (I think it's salami) I loved the green olives and the cheese. The cheese a cut into the perfect size bite. It wasn't overwhelming eating the cheese, olives and crackers at the same time. Our was a good snack with our drinks. Our second round was the Thieve's Root Beer Float. I can't express to you how good this root beer was! It was life changing! I will come back every weekend just for this root beer float. It's absolutely fantastic! One of the best mocktails I have ever had. I would punch someone just to have the last glass of this. If you love root beer floats then Thieve's Root Beer Float is a must try!
We only spent a little over an hour here and we had the best time! The venue is 5 stars, Jonathan was 5 stars and the drinks were 5 stars! I hope you have an amazing experience as I did if you ever hit...

Thick as Thieves isn't just a place to get a good drink - it's an experience. From the moment you enter the building to the time you leave, the vibes are unmatched. I've visited a number of highly rated speakeasies and countless bars, and I can tell you Thick as Thieves is hands down my favorite speakeasy of all time.
One of the most fun parts of speakeasies for me is how you get in - they always have some sort of mystery and secretiveness about them, and part of the experience is cracking the code to enter. Thick as Thieves has been the most fun and creative one I've seen yet. It really feels like you're stepping into a secret world when you get in. The interior is a cozy lounge dripping with sophistication and intrigue, and when you receive an unexpected accessory with your menu, you'll realize it has an unexpected and incredibly cool purpose! The attention to detail inside is great, even in the bathrooms.
The cocktails are clearly well thought-out and tweaked to perfection. Every cocktail we tried was balanced, complex, satisfying, and interesting. They have some super neat flavor combinations that taste amazing. While they have a good selection of classic drinks, beer, and wine, if you're looking to step out of your comfort zone on the cocktail side of things, this is the place to do it. I don't usually like bourbon, but I tried one of their bourbon cocktails and it was mind-blowingly good. Don't hesitate to order something you wouldn't normally go for - you'll probably be surprised by how much you love it at Thick as Thieves.
On food: we tried the donuts. I'm not a huge fan of pistachios, but these donuts...just get them. Trust me.
To add to that, every staff member is kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. We interacted with the hostess, two servers, and one of the bartenders. Everyone provided amazing service!
Whenever I'm in Boise again, Thick as Thieves will be one of my highest priorities to...
Read moreAs an avid connoisseur of the mixology scene across the nation's most celebrated bars, my visit to Thick as Thieves was met with anticipation. The ambiance of the place indeed carries a unique charm; its speakeasy vibe, complemented by intriguing glow-in-the-dark cocktails, promises an escape from the ordinary. However, beneath the allure of its atmosphere, Thick as Thieves exhibits a notable shortfall in one critical area: authenticity.
The cocktail offerings, while visually and conceptually engaging, lean heavily on the theatrical rather than pioneering in mixology. For instance, the innovation behind renaming classic cocktails does little to mask the familiarity of their origins. A Negroni by any other name, despite its presentation or slight twist in ingredients, remains fundamentally a Negroni. This observation is not to discredit the craftsmanship or the quality of the ingredients, which are commendable, but to highlight a missed opportunity in truly elevating the cocktail experience to match the bar's exceptional setting.
In cities renowned for their mixology like Chicago, New York, and San Francisco, bars distinguish themselves not just through ambiance but through a relentless pursuit of cocktail innovation and authenticity. These establishments constantly push the boundaries of what a cocktail can be, marrying tradition with groundbreaking techniques and flavors. In comparison, Thick as Thieves, for all its atmospheric prowess, falls short of this mark. The reliance on the novelty of its environment over the substance of its cocktail craft leaves it feeling like a 3-star experience ensconced within a 5-star facade.
In conclusion, Thick as Thieves stands as a testament to the importance of atmosphere in the modern bar experience. However, for the seasoned patron of the mixology world, the search for a truly transcendent cocktail experience—where innovation, authenticity, and atmosphere meet in perfect...
