I recently dined at Joia, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, and the attention to detail in the decor added to the overall charm. However, what truly set this dining experience apart was the outstanding service provided by Bonn, our waiter.
From the moment we entered, Bonn greeted us with a friendly smile and made us feel incredibly welcome. His knowledge of the menu was remarkable, as he effortlessly guided us through the various options, sharing insightful recommendations and descriptions of each dish. It was evident that he had a genuine passion for the culinary arts and took great pride in his work.
Throughout the evening, Bonn's attentiveness was unparalleled. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring our glasses were never empty and promptly attending to any requests or questions we had. Despite the restaurant being busy, Bonn managed to make us feel like we were his top priority, providing a level of service that exceeded our expectations.
Not only was Bonn highly professional, but he also exuded a warm and personable demeanor that made us feel like old friends. His genuine enthusiasm and engaging personality added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. It was evident that he cared deeply about creating a memorable and enjoyable evening for his guests.
As for the food, it was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was expertly crafted, bursting with flavors that delighted our palates. Bonn's recommendations proved to be spot-on, showcasing his deep understanding of the menu and his ability to cater to individual preferences.
In conclusion, Joia is a remarkable restaurant that offers a truly exceptional dining experience, and Bonn's service was a key factor in making our visit unforgettable. From his warm and welcoming demeanor to his impeccable attention to detail, Bonn went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect. I highly recommend Joia, and I have no doubt that Bonn will continue to impress and delight guests with his...
Read moreCame here for a birthday dinner and it was an interesting experience. The service was okay— it was a big party and only one girl was assigned to us, so I’ll cut her some slack. However, everyone ordered one drink and even if it was supposedly the same drink, one tasted like juice and one straight vodka. Have some quality control… the food, it was good! I wouldn’t say perfect or revolutionary, but it was good enough. A bit overpriced. The real debacle was with dessert… we had brought our own cakes (2 since there were 2 birthday girls) and they tried to tell us it would be $5 per slice cutting fee. Not sure if they meant $10 or $5 a person (as you’d think each person would get a slice of each cake), but that would be between $75-150… just to cut and plate the slices. Mind you these cakes were already each over $75 to begin with, and we’d brought them ourselves. Um, that’s crazy? There’s no way cutting a cake and slapping it on a plate should cost so much. Makes you wonder how inflated their own prices are. Everyone at the table had already ordered their own entree, and drinks each, plus shared apps (the bill was quiteeee high already)… the per person fee just seems like a desperate cash grab to me. I understand a base fee for each cake, but per person is just greedy. After much squabbling and asking for the manager that never came to speak with us, they allowed us to waive the fee. Still, the ordeal put a damper on the birthday celebrations. I would suggest you take your patronage elsewhere, especially if you have a large party. There’s significantly better restaurants in Boston for this...
Read moreI don’t know if I am getting old, but we had a dinner here and sat in the back room - see photo. It was a Saturday evening and quite busy. The host did not mention how the restaurant works or what you may expect to experience, but basically it was close to being miserable. The staff were short handed I have to believe and we had to stay on them to keep their attention for ordering etc. The food was reasonably tasteful as you would expect, but the problem was what happened if someone had a birthday. The room turned into a blinding (literally) light show like you would expect in a disco. Sorry but that is not acceptable for a fine dining establishment. It then continued to seven or eight of these instances where you had to stop dining (because you could hardly see your food). The volume was intense so you could not speak - if we had not halfway through the meal and had not been raining, we would have left. It’s sad because we had had a nice afternoon at the bar, and the bar tender had been very pleasant and the front room is lovely, why we were sat in the back, I cannot understand, especially k owing what happens if you are celebrating a birthday. If you go, do not go on a Saturday night is all I can say. I don’t like saying these negative things, because someone has gone to a lot of investment for this business, and a couple of dishes (octopus for one) was good. Simply if we had been told from the beginning, and sat in the front part of the restaurant, it would have been a different experience I would expect. They do need help with their staff though just like other reviews...
