This place was a bummer.
Upon arrival and at first glance, the decor appeared mostly clean yet starting to show it's age. The seat cushions didn't match and were incredibly worn and torn. Not a deal breaker, but kinda sus for a place connected to a hotel and located directly across from Faneuil.
I was pleasantly surprised to see so many Greek offerings on the menu and was excited to dig in. Being part Greek and growing up on Greek food, I'm inclined to think that Greek food is the best food.
Unfortunately...
They didn't have any of the Greek beers, surprisingly the server wasn't fully aware of this issue when we ordered, so she had to come back a couple times for drink orders. We figured, "Aww, tough luck." then placed our food order, which came with no surprises at first.
We waited for about 40 minutes for appetizers. When they arrived, they came with incredibly untimely bad news, the Loukanika we ordered wasn't available. I'm not sure why this information didn't come when we placed the order, but it didn't. Only my mother ordered something different, my father and I declined since we had waited so long for the appetizers.
As we ate our initial food order, a small mouse ran across the floor and at the bottom of neighboring tables searching for a meal. This was the limit of my mother's patience.
The manager in attendance discounted our bill 10% and gave my father a glass of wine. They reluctantly agreed to this offer because the dude was nice enough.
The food was whatever, not remarkable but not terrible. My folks liked their salads, the Chicken skewers were good, and the "Greek fries" were a pile of dry steak fries with feta sprinkled on top (I'm not sure what I expected, but in hindsight the menu didn't lie).
Anyway, check out the video of the mouse.
Complaints aside, the staff we spoke with were nice enough and there's great people watching through the windows.
This place has potential but needs some...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant because we're staying at The Bostonian, so it was the easiest option since we were too tired and just wanted to have a quick meal. We ended up having the most stressful dinner ever! We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrées, pretty simple. We waited more than half and hour to get one of our appetizers which was the clamp chowder. I mean, all you need to do is to heat it up and bring it to us! But no, it only came after we made a negative comment about the wait time. Both entrées were OKAY, nothing special about them to even make the wait worth it. After finishing with the main courses, our second appetizer still hadn't come! We double checked with the waitress to make sure that the order of moules had been taken and she was like yeah, kitchen knows about it. When I complained about the slow service, not only didn't she apologize about it, but she immediately blamed everything on the kitchen and sort of clarified there was nothing she could do about it. I mean, she had us waiting for such a long time, she could've at least checked on us or informed us about the estimated wait time. I assume she wouldn't care about the whole situation because the restaurant stated on the menu that 20% tip would be automatically added to the final bill. So, after checking twice on the moules, we decided to cancel the order and asked for the receipt. Again, we waited for more than ten minutes and receipt still hadn't come. We were so mad at that point that we decided to speak with a manager. She heard us out and apologized to us for the bad experience. We mentioned we would not pay under any circumstances the 20% tip because there was barely service at all, not only did she agree on that, but also offered us a 50% discount. So, unless you are willing to spend almost 2 hours on 2 main dishes and 1 appetizer, DO NOT EVEN BOTHER COMING...
Read moreRUDE! I’m paying top $ for the best suite at the Bostonian, which owns this restaurant, and the employees of this restaurant had no problem treating me, my husband, and our local friend from college as a nuisance. We were seated outside of the hotel this afternoon, no one else was outside, no guests, no restaurant goers, and all outside doors to the restaurant were closed and half of the patio furniture was stacked up. Clearly this space wasn’t being used at all. But this didn’t stop an Asian male employee in a blue button up from unlocking a door and yelling at us that we must “buy something from the hotel” to sit outside. When I explained I bought the best suite at the hotel for the week, he looked at me as if I couldn’t afford it and told me I needed to leave the hotel ASAP. All other restaurant staff was sure to shoot their rude looks in our direction. Why would a restaurant staff member want to tell a guest who is paying thousands of dollars for several nights at the hotel that owns this restaurant to leave. The staff should want to be respectful so that I will dine and order room service from there. Guess I need to find a new place for breakfast for the next two mornings.
Update: a sign was placed in front of the patio the next day claiming the patio (btw it’s in an alleyway) is for restaurant customers only. Very smooth. Nice, shiny sign; looks nice for all the transient folks who are using this patio, as well as the inside space near the elevators, as a...
