South End Buttery Annex — Restaurant in Boston

We ordered 2 screwdrivers and the bartender looked as us blankly and confused . We explained that it was vodka and OJ. We were handed 2 orange juices. The orange juice was fresh and tasted great but would've been better had we been given any vodka in them. However, when we asked for vodka, we were given it. We ordered food and it was wildly disappointing. Huevos rancheros came with tortillas that were so stiff and rubbery that I had to request a steak knife because a butter knife couldn't do the job of cutting them. When I was finally able to cut them, I realized that they were not worth even attempting to eat because they were so stale. The potatoes however were fabulous. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were perfect. The request for crisp bacon was ignored and over all the food was overpriced for something very underwhelming. Staff was inattentive. Biscuits and baked items are great! Options made there, beware. Staff is friendly to regulars, but not everyone and definitely not service oriented. Ate here twice while visiting family, but I won’t be back. Once purchased, there’s no follow up with prep staff to ensure order is correct or that ingredients are even available. I had to ask for the rest of my order on my first trip because it wasn’t complete. On my second trip, I couldn’t wait to try the ricotta toast on the menu with fig jam, blueberries, wildflower honey and sea salt in sourdough. The bread was good, but what I got was ricotta with strawberry jam and sliced almonds. No mention during purchase that they didn’t have the ingredients available and the prep staff handed over my toast made in a way that doesn’t even exist in the menu. All the food is pre ordered. Powdered eggs. There is 0 fresh anything there. Crossaints and other bakery goods are frozen and all food. Is basically the frozen section. Also beware. There was maggots under neath sink and in kitchen. This is exposed to all the food. Mold other disgusting food violations. Hires people who have no documents. But use to put innocent people in prison when Richard Gordon the owner was a prosecuter. He's a horrible man who steals his employees tips then fires them whenever they say anything please all do your research u don't have to believe me. But see for your self.
