While driving through town, I noticed an old-school-looking burger joint. Curious, I quickly checked the reviews while waiting at a nearby traffic light and, seeing they were quite positive overall, decided to park and give it a try. The ladies working inside were extremely friendly and helpful, which was a great start. Their menu is incredibly unique and fun, featuring a wide variety of amazing burgers. As a fan of spicy food, I was pleased to see several options that catered to my taste.
My server took the time to explain how they roast hot peppers to create their own unique blend, which I found very impressive. I decided to go with the Cold, Cold Heart burger, primarily because it included jalapeños. Although tempted by the Fire God Burger, the combination of scorpion and ghost peppers seemed a bit too intense for me.
My burger was prepared quickly while I watched from the counter, which was a nice touch. The fries that accompanied it were excellent—slightly thicker than regular fries with a delightful seasoning. They were served piping hot and crispy.
The highlight was definitely the burger itself. It was outstanding! The jalapeños added a lovely flavor without being overly spicy, and the bun was exceptional—soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. The meat was substantial and perfectly cooked. For condiments, they offer squeeze bottles from the fridge upon request. I opted for mayo on my burger and experimented with ketchup and mustard separately to see which I preferred. Honestly, the burger was delicious with or without the additional condiments.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would highly recommend stopping in. I'll definitely be back the next time...
Read moreSo I have another place for everybody to check out if you’re in Bristol Virginia you have to go by the burger bar this place has been in business since I believe they said 1934-38 somewhere in there seem like every time we were in Bristol Virginia we get there a little late and the place is already closed but this time we struck gold we had burgers and fries we got the same burger, the Shawn burgers fresh beef patties handmade every day the fries were cooked perfect no mushiness nice and crispy and hot. The burger themselves were really good. I was surprised, we got there around 2 o’clock hotel was not ready for us to check in yet so we went to the burger bar had lunch and it filled us up so much that we didn’t have a big dinner. We just had a couple appetizers since it was our first time when we talk to the owner, who does most of the cooking there with his wife and daughter and a great weight staff that they put together everybody’s friendly the food is great it’s not a very big place they have us in the front room. They have a small counter and some tables there and then they actually got the place next-door and opened up and expanded it to make it bigger. It’s a really cool place and I think everybody would enjoy, like I said we had the Shawn burgers me and my wife and the owners are very nice. What a really cool place we will be back definitely and since it was our first time, the owners gave us a sample of the sweet potato fries, and the Parmesan fries with a cinnamon aïoli and a barbecue aïoli sauce to dip in all complementary. Very nice people. We definitely...
Read moreI was in Bogota, Colombia a few years ago, walking down the street when I saw a street vendor selling " hamburguesa". I should have known better from previous street food experiences in Bogota but I love burgers and fancy myself a knowledgeable burger consumer. I paid 80 cents or so and got some kind of meaty substance slathered in sauces with like little fried, hard onions. The burgers was inedible and I tried to feed it to a street dog near an entrance to the gold museum. The street dog took a few passive licks but ultimately passed on the burger and the birds took it apart. Well, that was the worst burger I have ever had and the burger I had at Burger Bar a few days ago was a close second. I feel so sorry for the local people who have claimed this burger to be one of the best around. It is unseasoned... how do you get by not even putting seasoning on the patties? They are stale, cookie cutter, flavorless patties that are cooked so hard and so long there is not even a trace of juiciness nor fat content. I literally had to choke down each bite with beer before I finally gave up on it. NO seasoning. Cooked to death. Cheap bun. Horrible undercooked fries that were still hard in the middle but had some seasoning. The cheese is cheap and its slopped together to keep the line moving. Just an absolute disgraceful burger. I will never return because they're getting by on their disgraceful burger making technique and I am sure it wont change. Its really sad and now I cant help but think if that street dog would have choked this burger down as I had or leave...
