McDonald's — Restaurant in Brookings

After being on the road for 7 hours with kids, we finally stopped for snacks. When I went through the drive-thru, I was given a cup for our apple juice, but I was informed that some of the juice boxes didn’t come with straws. I didn’t think much of it at the time. However, once I resumed driving, I quickly realized that the juice box was nearly impossible to open. I had to pull over because there was no way my 4-year-old could get his juice.

I drove back to the drive-thru and asked the employee at the window to open it for me. I made it clear that they needed to inform the next customer about this issue, as it’s unacceptable that the juice boxes are so difficult to open without a sharp tool. I suggested they keep some scissors on hand to assist customers, but they explained that it was against policy.

As I expressed my frustration, another employee approached the window and threw a straw at me before slamming the window shut. This was completely unprofessional and escalated my annoyance. I wasn’t yelling; I was simply trying to advocate for a better solution. It was clear they had straws available but were unwilling to listen to my concerns. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of customer service in a situation that could have easily been resolved. I wish I had that on video it would have went viral. I would have given 0 stars of it...

Stopped on our way through at the Brookings McDonalds. Ordered a couple nugget meals, large size with Coke and Sweet tea. Got to the window to get food and the guy hands us the drinks, and one of the straws was broken so we asked for another, and we got attitude from him, but he did give us the straw. After about 30 seconds, he hands the food out, looked in the bag and noticed the sauce was missing so we asked for the sauce and he got us some. We then asked if the fries we supposed to be large size. He looks at us and says…..well how am I supposed to know ( with attitude). We decided it wasn’t worth waiting for. We pull away and get the fries out to eat, and the fries looked and tasted like they had been sitting for a long time and just warmed for us. But the chicken nuggets were so overcooked and dry that the sauce packs didn’t even help. And then to top it off we got NO napkins. This was the worst McDonalds I have been too. Two single drive thru orders and cashier was making drinks for previous order. strawberry shake had next to no syrup in it yet she still served two shakes. Cashier asked if we were ready to order, didn't wait for an answer, then walked away for another ten minutes making sure to stroll back and look at us waiting for her. She came back for our order very monotone and quick. Tables were obviously not cleaned in a while. Worst service I've had and longest wait I've had in any McDonald's ever. After waiting for our food, the next order was up and cashier entirely switched around and immediately attended to his needs and got him his food with a cheery tone and smile, even said I love you to him. As it's understandable to be nervous or socially awkward, the lack of respect from this RBF brown long haired little girl was simply unnecessary.
