Chipotle Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Delaware

This Chipotle prior to the pandemic was great, food was good and employees were nice and respectful. I have noticed for the past few months that the quality of this location decreased dramatically. The food became subpar, being lukewarm and even getting the wrong order at times. There seems to be new employees everytime I go to this location, not that there is anything wrong with new employees. Although I feel its a sign the old employees wanted to jump ship from this location.

Yesterday, was the last straw for this location, my partner and I decided to go inside and order. I order a carne asada burrito with guac with chips, and he orders 3 tacos with carnitas.

Since it was not busy, one gentleman created our entire meals and I believed he did a good job, no issues at all. When we got to the cash register I asked for chips and then I had a free guacamole coupon on the Chipotle app so I scanned it, the lady told me to scan again. So I did, and she gave me the okay to give her the payment for the meals. I gave her my card, paid, and then left the store with our food.

Throughout the whole experience the employees felt like they didn't even want to be in there, I didnt feel welcomed at all by anyone. When before, everyone seemed like welcoming and passionate about what they are doing.

When my partner and I had our meal the tacos and burrito tasted good, it was good temperature wise. The issue were chips, we noticed that they were kinda soggy? Some chips were crispy, but some were pale and you can bend them without any snap. And that was the end of that experience.

UNTIL I remembered this morning, usually on the Chipotle app whenever I scan for points or scan a coupon I get a "rate your order". I noticed I did not receive a notification for it. So I went into the app to find that MY COUPON WAS NEVER SCANNED! I can understand that the employees were new, to my assumption because I have never seen them before, but if you are unsure of something asking a fellow employee would be the best thing to do in that situation.

My worse experience at a Chipotle, and I have been to many of them. I will admit that I was there only one hour before closing. But I believe my visit should have been more professionally dealt with. Let's start with food all over the counter, half the food in the steam table was not edible, even the server agreed with me. I get that they will be closing soon and they may not want to make fresh food an hour before closing, but don't let the consumers see the old food before they're about to eat it. Just remove the old food put empty trays in there spot and say to your customers that we have a limited menu now, etc... Then after making my order with the very few choices that were available ("edible") I asked for tortilla chips, but there weren't any because they already started cleaning the fryers. I suggest you make some before you start cleaning the fryers a hour before closing. Chips are cheap, if no one orders them take them home or just throw the left over out. I'm not done. My son and I were going to sit down and eat there, but couldn't find a clean table in the place, while several employees where sitting down eating, one got up when he was done and didn't even clean up after him self. Now come on! With Covid going ramped, people dieing in hospitals. Please clean up after every customer, or leave out something for them to do it them selves. Have masks on correctly! This location is very close to a Hospital, I'm sure they get business from it. That said this is a easy fix, and the food was good, I just had to take it to my Hotel room to eat it.
