Located at the Source, this place is massive. We saw it from the third floor and I thought it was some sort of food hall. Didn't' realize until we got there, it was a roastery and café.
There's plenty of seating and there's room for more seating eventually or even a merch store. They clearly just opened recently. Service if friendly and they were very patient with our ordering since we couldn't find a drinks menu until we got to the counter. They should put more up around the place
We tried the oreo cake, salted bun, and condensed milk loaf. The oreo cake is good, reminds me of a lighter black forest cake. Enjoyed the oreo cream, light and delicate.
The chocolate salted bun and condensed milk loaf I had higher expectations for, but they're forgettable. The loaf is just a regular butter loaf with a glaze on top, nothing inside.
Same with the chocolate salted bun, just a layer a chocolate on top. Lazy and actually makes it messy to eat as it melts.
Drinks wise, there was a half-price drinks promotion going on so we tried a few drinks. Normally, I'd think the drink prices on the higher end, especially when you have so many options at the Source.
Dalgona coffee is good. Nice texture and good coffee flavor
Matcha einspanner was good too, the matcha comes through very well
Peach iced tea was very sweet in a good way. Normally I don't like overly sweet drinks, but something about it made it taste really refreshing at the time we had it.
Food and drinks are definitely on the higher end, and doesn't really match the quality. Overall, it's an okay option, decent food/drinks, lots of seating, but there's definitely a lot of competition...
Read moreI'll give them a little leeway since they were training and having a soft opening when I visited, but they have a long way to go if they want a competitive coffee shop in this market.
The main issue was that the drinks were terrible. I tried a flavored latte and a shot of espresso. The latte was over steamed and tasted like disgustingly sweet hot ice cream without a hint of coffee flavor. The espresso was both burnt and sour at the same time hinting that it was over-roasted or made with cheap coffee beans while the shot probably had massive channeling, meaning the person that made it didn't know what they were doing. They really need a professional barista to come in and do some training.
The atmosphere has potential for a nice hangout spot, but don't waste your money buying drinks here. I've never seen a business with such nice equipment have no idea how to use it. These coffee machines cost more than many people's cars, yet the stuff coming out of them was worse than instant grocery...
Read moreI’ve heard some mixed reviews about this place but I can confirm that they make good coffee.
Located inside The Source mall on the 2nd floor, this place is probably the largest cafe in Orange County. Plenty of tables, seats, and couches. Great place for large meetings. But I wouldn’t recommend this place for a quick take out as the wait can take as long as 15-20 mins before you get your coffee.
They currently have “50% off” promotion on all drinks. I tried their Iced Matcha Latte ($3.80 with promotion, $7.60 normal price) with almond milk (+$1.00), with vanilla cold foam added (+$1.50), and Iced Americano ($2.80 with promotion, $5.60 normal price) with vanilla cold foam added (+$1.50). They were both very good.
Good service from the cashier with hard working baristas. Clean bathroom. It also looked like they were expanding to sell their own bakery/pastry items in the future.
Free parking at The Source covered...
