My husband I ordered DoorDash from this restaurant last night (Friday, 7/25). I got a Philadelphia roll, a dragon roll, and a salmon roll, and my husband got TakoYaki, a yellowtail scallion roll, and a Northwest Philly roll. I knew it was a gamble ordering DoorDash from a sushi restaurant, but the distance was 20 minutes and I assumed this wouldn’t be too crazy. After we had already ordered, I saw some not-so-great reviews for this restaurant regarding the food quality and illness. We decided to not cancel our order and go through with giving this place a shot. The sushi arrived warm, so I decided to refrigerate it for about 30 minutes, which helped improve the taste (I had tried a couple pieces when it arrived and wasn’t pleased by the temperature or taste). The sushi pieces were VERY small. The salmon roll was okay, but very bland. The dragon roll had barely any eel in it, which is my favorite part of that roll. It was mostly avocado, and the avocado was not firm at all, but incredibly soft and slightly slimy. The Philadelphia roll was the best one, but most of the taste/flavor came from the cream cheese. My husband said his food was “decent” and that there were other sushi places we’ve tried in the area that not only have bigger pieces in the rolls, but taste much better. I don’t think we will order again, either in-person or through DoorDash. Also, it is the day after (I ate the sushi last night when it arrived) and I now have diarrhea, which I can’t necessarily attribute to the sushi, but there seems to be a connection considering it was the last thing I ate before I...
Read moreI saw the open sign on and stopped in. What an amazing experience. Their hours online appear to be off because I was inside seated and ordering by 2:30 pm. It wasn’t particularly busy, I didn’t feel any sort of rush by the staff to order and get out, and while the staff were attentive to make sure I was taken care of I got to witness their staff seated together actually enjoying their day working when I had finished my meal. This an isn’t the restaurant with an over bearing/over worked server trying to get you out of the table to help the next guy, but the place you come to really kick the boots off in the middle of the day. My experience of their atmosphere was a nice quiet place to have a late lunch and enjoy the break from work.
Now the food. Oh my goodness good. I’m not sure what they put in their spicy rolls to make them taste seasoned but not melt your mouth off hot but I am a big fan. My only complaint here is their wasabi didn’t taste as fresh as I’d like but I came to eat sushi not wasabi. Once I mixed it with soy sauce it was perfect. Even still the flavors keeps it at a 5/5.
For a small restaurant business here in Caldwell Idaho of all places this place has it going on. I only wish I was here off the clock to have a couple of their amazing sounding cocktails to really dive into my food coma. Come check...
Read moreThis place is awesome! We went on a Friday night so it was pretty busy. We did have to wait a bit to be seated and order, but that's to be expected on busier nights. Plan accordingly. However, the food was perfect! The portions you get for the price are well balanced and the flavors are on point! This may be the first time I've received teriyaki chicken on a cast iron type dish, but it was the best! The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very tender! We also ordered the spicy sushi roll and got a lot more than we expected. But the flavor and composition was still satisfactory. Our server was kind and professional. In the chaos of a full dinner service he forgot to bring us our drinks. But we weren't billed for them and instead brought out some Japanese sodas as an apology. This was a sweet surprise as we didn't bring up the missing drinks to behind with. Very nice service! The decor is still a bit odd for a sushi restaurant, but the facilities were clean so it gets a pass from me. Overall, this was a pleasant visit and I definitely will be returning in the future! (On a side note: we did notice that only chopsticks were provided. This was not a problem for us as we're used to using chopsticks, but may be...
