As O'Siders one of the places that we go to is Carlsbad Village which is our sister city. I didn't know that there was a Sushi place here until yesterday. And I must say that I am really glad that we tried it, because now we have a go to place for Sushi. Unfortunately the one near which is not that great
Why is this great? Well, allow me to break it down for you.
Food - as a Sushi enthusiast I must say that the quality of the fish is excellent. They don't have that after taste of fishy sorta taste. I can tell that they are fresh. The presentation of the food were also great. I do hope that their quality doesn't change because I notice that is the pitfall of Sushi restaurants. The quality fades as time passes
Service - Is excellent! Except for the inaccuracies when we called. We called in to ask how long the wait was and they said that there's little to no wait but after 5 mins, when we got there they said that there's a 20 mins wait. Yes we were able to sit outside and I am glad that we are next to the heater because for some reason lately it is really cold here in North County.
Atmosphere - This restaurant is above Coyote Grill. When we went there was a Live Band playing so it was pretty chill. If you are not in a mood for that then make sure you go inside because they have pretty good noise cancelling windows.
Overall a pretty good experience here. We will...
Read moreWe came here for our last night’s dinner and wanted a spot where we could enjoy a meal before walking the village after dark, Sushi Taisho was the perfect choice. The service was excellent, portions were huge, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We sat inside, and one thing we really appreciated was that you couldn’t hear the live music from downstairs. It kept the atmosphere calm and made it easy to enjoy conversation over dinner. Normally we steer clear of overly “Pinteresty” or trendy-looking places, but this one struck the right balance. The interior had a nice look, the food presentation was thoughtful, and most importantly, the flavors lived up to the visuals. On top of that, this ended up being the best value meal of our entire vacation.
What we tried: Chicken Teriyaki – Generous portion, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Beef Yakisoba – Comforting, hearty, and packed with flavor.
Green Tea – Fresh loose-leaf, smooth and aromatic.
Chamomile Tea – Served as a bag, but still a nice touch and a soothing finish to the meal.
If you’re in the area, Sushi Taisho is a must. Great service, great food, and an unbeatable value. We left full, happy, and ready for our evening walk through...
Read moreWow, I can’t believe I haven’t left a review for Taisho yet—this place absolutely deserves five stars. I love it! The interior is small and cozy, so it’s not ideal for big groups, but it’s perfect when I’m dining with one or two others. The sushi is high quality, the service is fast, and while there may be other great spots in town, Taisho is the perfect nexus of price and quality. That’s exactly why I both recommend it to people and keep coming back.
Their maki rolls and nigiri are consistently excellent—that’s my go-to order. I haven’t tried many of their specialty rolls, but based on what I have had, I’d be shocked if they weren’t just as good. You’re in good hands here.
One thing to note: Taisho is right above the Coyote Bar & Grill, which has live music every weekend. If that’s your vibe, grab a seat outside and enjoy. But if you prefer a quieter meal, be aware—it gets very loud (slightly better inside, but still loud). That’s no fault of Taisho, but if you want a more peaceful experience, go for lunch or an early dinner before 8 PM (which is what I do). You can also check Coyote’s music schedule online.
Definitely a gem in...
