Overall, this was a really great seafood boil spot. Nothing like it anywhere near as far as I can tell. I would absolutely come back here again.
We ordered hush puppies, sweet potato fries, fried calamari, fried shrimp, chicken tenders, 1 dozen raw oysters, snow crab legs, clams, mussels. The sweet potato fries and hush puppies were solid, pretty much the best standard version of those you could hope for. Very well executed. The fried shrimp and calamari were cooked perfectly and not overcooked/rubbery, and is definitely a good sign that the kitchen knows what they're doing with seafood in a fryer! The raw oysters were massive and fresh. They only provided lemon and cocktail sauce, so it would be nice in the future if they could also provide horseradish and hot sauce... maybe a vinegar, soy sauce, or ponzu too. The snow crab and clams were really good. The mussels were slightly overcooked, but dipping it in the plentiful sauce from the bag more than overcame that shortcoming. We all got the 88 sauce with medium spice. The sauce is crazy good! We are pretty comfortable with spice and so the medium didn't challenge us, but did introduce a very enjoyable uncomfortable level of spice. Lastly, the potatoes and corn that cooked in the bag with the sauce and juices were really good as well.
The service was prompt and friendly. When you are ready to order, they do not come to your table, you need to go up to the register and place your order. That's a good time to grab all of the utensils you'll want, including any extra condiments they have up there.
Overall, in spite of the slightly overcooked muscles, I'll give this place five stars. Love to see this type of restaurant come to the area. My family and I will definitely be back...
Read moreSo you must understand, in chambersburg, you are far from any body of salt water. That being said, the selection on the menu was surprising. Plenty of selections like shrimp, mussels, clams, crabs, and my favorite mudbugs (crawfish). Now, during my visit, with my girlfriend, we ordered the "Seafood Feast". Which is a little of everything on the menu. We ordered at the counter like it was some sort of fast food restaurant. We sat down at a nice booth with paper covering the table (like a seafood restaurant at the beach). I was excited! I thought this was going to be the real deal. When the food arrived it was served in a bucket, like you would expect, but in the bucket the food was wrapped in a plastic bag. Not sure if this is because of covid or just a normal practice for them. Once we dug in we found the food to be over cooked and very "plasticy" tasting. We were trying to enjoy it but one of the biggest issues (besides the overcooked food) was the fact they brought these little tiny, so thin you could see through, napkins. My hands got so greasy that I went through the pile of napkins before my second crab leg. After all this I will give this place 2 stars just for the fact they are trying. Definitely room for some...
Read moreOrdered the white fish dinner $10.99 … two pieces of frozen, very strong tasting fish ( not in a good way)… each piece was about the size of a fish stick. The fries were frozen crinkle cut and not cooked through. That is what the dinner consisted of… I should have known when the place was empty on a weekend evening and printed on the menu in bold red letters “NO REFUND” - “We will not refund when you got your food.” it was a mistake to order anything. It is clean; it has only been open a few weeks. The three people standing behind the counter were polite. I hesitated to write this review. However, the prices are so high for such poor quality and quantity of food I would discourage anyone from wasting their money going there. The name is a take off from The Crab House 88, which is an excellent seafood restaurant, but highly doubt that there is any association...
