Pizza was the last thing I was thinking about ordering during my time in Charleston, but I wanted to go some place chill and that was near the place I was staying. So based on reviews and a recommendation from where I was staying, I decided to try D'Allesandro's Pizza.

Vibe: It hit on the unpretentious vibe I was looking for, but what killed the vibe for me was the music. I’m by no means a prude and I actually listen to a wide range of music, but playing indie grunge music (and loudly) isn’t the most ideal music to listen to when eating out.

Food: My go to order at any pizza joint is a Cheese Pizza as it is the purest form of pizza and truly reflects the quality of the dough, sauce, and cheese. They certainly didn’t skimp on the cheese, which I appreciated. The sauce was good, but nothing memorable. And the crust was really disappointing.

Service: At first the service was a bit off, but once settled in, attentive. In general the staff was super nice.

Was it a horrible evening - no, would I go back again,...

Overall an awful experience from start to finish. First, they were severely understaffed, even though the tables were not full and they weren’t busy in itself. Then I ordered gluten free pizza, only to find out it was made on same equipment as the other pizzas so cross contamination was inevitable. Next, the pizza was so burnt that it was not palpable and neither myself nor the person I was with finished our pizza. Third, the waitress took so long to check in with us after we were finished that I had to go up and request to pay so we could leave. I used to restroom while there and it looked so unkept and gross, from the soap bottle filled with not the soap it advertised in it to the dirt and debris everywhere, I doubt that bathroom has ever been cleaned. The whole restaurant seemed dirty, unkept, and was a great indicator of how poor the service and pizza would be. Wouldn’t recommend this pizza place to anyone, such a disappointment, disgust, and let down when...

We went to D’Al’s after a long day at the outlets and then at the beach. The pizza was awesome and so hit the spot. I especially recommend the Big Cheese pizza. YUM. I really wanted to write this review to thank the very kind cook who helped us with our little 20 month old who was completely melting down before food arrived. He was so kind and called my son over and gave him a small chunk of pizza dough to play with! It totally appeased him until the food arrived. This cook was so sweet, and as a fairly new mom (certainly new to bringing my two tiny ones to dinner, precisely because I feel so bad about meltdowns where others are trying to eat and relax!), this really was such a blessing and surprise. I wish I know this cook’s name, but he was tossing pizza dough, had glasses and really cool hair. Just wanted to shout out and say THANK YOU! Also the pizza was terrific! And that’s saying a lot since my in-laws who dined with me were...
