DO NOT RECOMMEND SCHEDULING EVENTS HERE.
Scheduled an event with Vintage Lounge for a graduation party. The party was on the same date the Governor of SC issued an order of no gatherings of parties of 10 people or more. We were forced to cancel because of the pandemic.
Some context for the event: I was planning a graduation for a class of officers from a Navy training command here in Charleston. We've been working our butts of the last six months and were looking forward to celebrating the end of training.
I put a $500 deposit down to reserve the space. My commanding officer came back and told me the day before the event we had to cancel because the Governor of SC issued the no large gatherings order.
I relayed this information to the event coordinator and was told that due to our contract there would be no refunds on the deposit. The event was canceled due to a PANDEMIC!! Something that absolutely no one has control over.
The event coordinator did offer to reschedule my event to a later date, however like I mentioned above I am in the military and will be transferring soon.
I lost $500 of my own money (working for the government you don't make a whole lot to begin with). My command said I'm SOL and this venue has been anything BUT helpful. I will not take my business here and I will recommend the same to...
Read moreThis review is primarily pertaining to our experience during a "Master Class Tasting". Not reflective on the bar in specific.
We did the Master Class Tasting last week and would say to just go get a few glasses of wine. Tasting is supposed to be 5 glasses of "elevated" wine, meat and cheese platter, discussion and education and a blind tasting. We enjoyed the wine but don't feel they were anymore elevated than any other tasting would have been. The meat and cheese was delicious so nothing wrong there. Our biggest issue was that this was understood to be a more educational tasting. We were there over 90 minutes and spoke to the Sommelier around 9-12 of those minutes. We were shown the bottle and poured glasses and a couple times they simply read the back of the bottle. Doesn't particularly scream educational. There also never was a blind tasting which is clearly part of it. We just stopped waiting for them to actually come over and do the tasting and just asked them for a check. No one came to speak to us when we asked for the check to even initiate this tasting or ask how it was.
Just go for the drinks, we hear they are outstanding. Just a real let down to pay 80$ per person for an educational experience when we should have just gone and had a couple...
Read moreI am a local who works in the service industry so I know the person that interacted with me was the owner of this establishment. The owner is EXTREMELY disrespectful to his employees and potential customers. I was standing outside the bar asking the security guard a quick question when the owner showed up and asked if I was coming inside. I said no and then was shooed off with a wave of his hand. He told young door guy “she needs to leave” and walked back inside.
Before I could thank the security guard for answering my question and walk away (within seconds), the owner had come back out and yelled at the security guard to make me leave. Mind you I am stand on the sidewalk on king street. Not on the property of this deranged guys wine bar.
Extremely disrespectful to the employee who was being polite while still doing his job. Extremely disrespectful to a potential customer. I will not be giving this man money. As someone who has worked in the bar for years, I understand the importance of security. I was not stopping this kid from doing his job, and the behavior from the owner was absolutely...
