After seeing some exhibits at the Mint, I wanted a fun breakfast. Walked the block and a half to try Famous Toastery. The lady who greeted us at the door was nice. That was the high point.
There were several clean open tables, but instead of seating us at one, we waited while she cleaned a different table just to put us there. Odd choice, but fine.
I ordered the avocado Benedict, breakfast potatoes, and an English muffin on the side. Asked for soft poached eggs, you know the standard. What came out were hard-boiled eggs sitting tasteless avocado halves with cold potatoes that tasted like they’d been microwaved and abandoned. The English muffin looked and tasted like leftover cardboard.
I complained. They said they’d remake it. I patiently waited.
While I waited, the table next to me complained about their cold food and missing items. Half the order showed up, and even that wasn’t right. I chuckled because everything they said was spot on.
The "corrected" plate arrived. They’d scooped out the hard-boiled eggs, made a weak attempt at soft poached, put them back in the same avocado halves and microwaved the potatoes again. Lukewarm at best. No taste. No flavor. All shame.
I spent 55 dollars on breakfast, a Bloody Mary, an Irish coffee, The Hash plate, and the Avocado Benedict. My partner didn’t like her plate either, but she waited until we left to say so. She doesn’t like making a scene.
I doubt I’ll ever give that place a...
Read moreIs an average place that needs to fix some things for sure! Met with friends for breakfast at 10:00 am and the place was packed. We got on the waiting list, I was told they are short staffed and I saw people walked away when they were told about an hour wait. Let’s break down these four stars! Ambiance- nothing out of this world, the place can be a lot more clean specially being Uptown Charlotte. Floors were dirty and sticky and so was the rail downstairs. Overall, is like any Denny’s. Customer service: the host was nice when I walked in and inquired about the wait time and wanted to make sure my friend’s name was there and she was. So was the host downstairs, our waiter was not engaged or happy but we can’t judge. He might be going through something and it reflects in his job. Food: this is where I give them the 3 stars, I ordered Irish coffee and got black coffee with maybe whisky? But I politely told our waiter that my coffee was not Irish and I wanted the one with Baileys and Whip Cream and all the bells and whistles. He said: that is called the Kiss of the Irish Coffee or something like that. He replaced it and I loved my coffee❣️. My huevos rancheros were good although the black beans were cold around and hot only in the center but they were very good!! I will go back to another location. Oh the parking is next door,$5 an hour so budget at least $10 to...
Read moreWorst breakfast experience I’ve ever had. Hands down. 30 minute wait. After we (a table of 4) were seated, we waited 20 minutes for a server. No one came. Eventually we waved someone down who was able to take our order. Then he disappeared. We then waited an additional 30 minutes, as we were giving them the benefit of the doubt. At this point, our drinks were empty and the coffees we ordered 45 mins prior, had still not arrived. We then waved down a different individual and he eventually brought out our coffees. At this point, if has been an hour since we sat down. Another 30 minutes go by. At this point we’re pretty frustrated and ask yet another server about our order. She explains that they could not find the table who ordered it and eventually brought it out. It was ice cold and 2/4 orders were completely wrong. I was so over this place at this point. We spent almost 2 hours at a place I will NEVER return to. Management needs serious help and the owners should be ashamed of how they run a “business”. Awful experience. Would rate lower if possible. DO...
