I had a disappointing experience recently, which I feel compelled to share for other customers and management awareness. While the initial service was welcoming and friendly, the situation quickly soured due to poor communication and unprofessional behavior from one of the hosts.
My friends and I were greeted by a host who was initially friendly, and seated us at our table. Our waitress was also excellent, taking our drink orders and bringing them out. However, after a short time, one of my friends began feeling unwell and closed her eyes for a few minutes in the booth.
To our surprise, the same host came by and, without any warning or understanding, rudely told us that “she’s not allowed to sleep here!” in a demeaning tone. While we understood the importance of maintaining the atmosphere of the venue, the tone and delivery were completely inappropriate and unnecessary. The comment left us feeling uncomfortable.
The situation escalated when, after my friend woke up, the host walked past our table again. My friend's boyfriend got his attention and made a lighthearted joke of the situation, only for the host to respond by saying, “If you’re going to be an asshole about it, then you can just leave,” before walking off. This outburst was not only rude but completely uncalled for. Instead of escalating the situation by swearing at us and threatening to kick us out, the host could have maintained a professional demeanor and offered a simple gesture of hospitality, such as offering coffee, tea, or water to my friend. That would have been the appropriate, professional response in a situation where safety and comfort were the priority of the establishment, especially given that we were paying customers.
To add insult to injury, we noticed the host speaking to other staff behind the bar, and shortly after, several servers brought waters to our table, clearly signaling that they wanted us to leave. While we appreciated the gesture, we spent approximately 45 minutes here having 1 or 2 cocktails each and it was clear we were being made to feel unwelcome.
As members of the LGBTQ community, we were initially relieved to find an establishment that was inclusive and welcoming, which is not something we often find in this area. It was nice to see that this establishment was such an inclusive space, but unfortunately, the behavior of the host left us feeling completely disappointed. We take full responsibility for our friend's decision and understand the need to adhere to the bar’s policies which we then complied with. However, what we don’t appreciate is the host’s delivery, lack of professionalism, and how the situation was handled.
It’s unfortunate that a night that started off pleasant and welcoming ended in such a negative and uncomfortable way. Unfortunately situations like this happen constantly in Nashville when customers are kicked out of establishments instead of being helped and end up on the evening news as missing or dead. Surely Chattanooga could do better!
We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the need for better customer service training, especially in handling sensitive situations like this. Needless to say we won’t return, but I fear for this establishments business if this kind of behavior from...
Read moreI must admit that my boyfriend has a good eye for finding unique bars.
Location: The bar is located in the heart of Chattanooga. You can go there by car or public transportation.
Parking: It does not have its own parking lot. You can park on the street or any of the republic parking, but you have to pay.
Service: We sat at the bar. The bartender was kind, nice, and fast considering that the bar was full.
Drinks quality: It is a cocktail bar. I didn't see any food menu (only cheese boar, mac + cheese up, maruchen ramen cup, and ice cream), but the cocktail selection on the menu is great, perfect for those nights when you want a very nice cocktail. We got Donkey Kong - really good bourbon based cocktail similar to old-fashioned. Paper Plane is a bit sweet for a guy unless you like sweet drinks. We also got another drink but is not on the menu anymore. I think it's called yabadabadoo or something like that.
Price: It may seem a bit expensive for some folks, but in my opinion the prices are acceptable. If you want good drinks, don't mind spending more than you would in a normal bar/sport bar. We spent on 3 cocktails $58.01 Atmosphere: I love when a bar or restaurant takes care of every detail. The atmosphere is relaxing, cozy, cool, and the music is on point. You can feel how the taste of the drinks matches with the concept and decorations of the bar. This is something that is not easy to achieve. They even decorate the bathroom. Good job!
Recommendation: Park anywhere and explore downtown on the way to this bar. It's a good exercise and a great way to get to know Chattanooga. We usually prefer to visit bars in the early hours (around 7 - 8 pm) before they gets crowded. This way, we can better enjoy the experience without long wait time and noisy audience.
Would I visit this bar again? Absolutely! I love everything... the music, the drinks, the decoration, the service, and the price.

Read moreVisited Chattanooga last weekend and came here. I absolutely love speakeasy’s so this was a no brainer. The atmosphere is relaxed and the vibe low key. The music is everything, actually added some to my playlist while there! Have tons of drinks. Can request ones not on the menu as they have a full bar. Our cocktail waitress was the best. So outgoing, beautiful spirit, knew her drinks well, and could make recommendations off the fly depending on what you liked. They have a bar area you can sit at, purple lounge sofas, outdoor patio and a small space inside that reminds you of sitting outside but you’re in. We chose the purple lounge sofas and loved it. They did ask if they could sit someone else with us if it came to that and we were good with that. They have card games you can request to play. It’s an all around low key good time. Great place for cocktails and convos. Highly recommend the lemon drop shot or martini. 10/10 recommended and will definitely be back when in town. Price is ($$). Of course, that also depends on how much you drink and the type you like! They have a ballin on a budget drink you can request that’s cheaper. It’s a drink on their menu offered at a lower price that day. We didn’t try them because we didn’t think we’d like the particular one they had that night. Definitely worth the trip. We Ubered from our hotel. If you’re reading this you should be here and I’m jealous you’re going. Enjoy! 🍻 (Look for the pink lady shining on the ground and you’ve found your...
