Typically I love the gluten free baked goods offered at Lydia's on Ludlow (especially the GF coffee cakes). However, my husband and I went on Friday to pick up a few muffins for me and had a mediocre experience. I ordered 3 muffins to go: Carrot, Maple Oat, and Lemon Poppy Seed. When we walked back to our car I couldn't wait to dig in to my favorite: Lemon Poppy Seed. There was no Lemon Poppy Seed. There was a Strawberry Almond and two Carrot. He walked back to Lydia's and asked them to correct the order. They replaced the Strawberry Almond with the correct muffin (Maple Oat) but insisted that one of carrot muffins was a Lemon Poppy Seed. He got back to the car and as you can see from the pics it was indeed still 2 carrot muffins. To top it all off...they were so dry. Especially the Maple Oat. So frustrated. We have to go out of our way to go to Lydia's. It was almost $12 for 3 muffins. Probably won't be back unless we are already in the area and I'll make sure to stick to the GF...
Read moreI arrived around midday on a Sunday. I was a single person and was told at the front that I'd have to wait a while for a seat, which was completely understandable as they were busy. I sat to wait with another patron who was along. By the time the restaurant staff sat three tables of two, the other single patron became exasperated and sat down at an empty table.
I waited while restaurant staff seated a fourth two person table and was told that I "could try the community table" but otherwise, they didn't have anything and I'd have to wait longer. The community table was actually completely full.
I, and coworkers, have the flexibility to work from a coffee shop during the day, but after this experience, I will not be returning and will not recommend this coffee shop. I understand that the restaurant was busy but seeing multiple 2 person tables sat before me and being told that the staff could essentially do nothing for me soured...
Read moreI'll start off by saying I don't usually eat at the restaurant. I go there to get carry out or buy coffee beans and/or a cup of coffee. I never got the warm, friendly neighborhood vibe. After stopping in for about six months every other week or so, the woman at the counter never bothered to know my name (I know hers), and weighed every ounce of the coffee beans. She never once offered me a free coffee as I waited endlessly for her to oh so carefully measure every ounce and take a couple beans out of the bag to make it perfect. Needless to say, I'm now going back to my less convenient neighborhood coffee shop in Mariemont, where they know my name and ask about my kids, measure the coffee to my benefit, and offer a free coffee every time I buy beans. Lydia's needs to up their friendliness game. I'm...
