The West Side Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in City of Saratoga Springs

I had been coming here about twice a month last year because they have great food and drinks. Coming back today, they had done some updates to the place including parking, menu and seating. Looks nice, I usually went for their calamari and their crown maple salad. After looking at their updated menu they had taken off the salad I like and also took away the small and large options to their menu. Everything is one size now, which wasn’t a deal breaker for me but still wasn’t happy. I was viewing their prices which have seemed to increase so I did a menu average while I was sitting there and the average price you’ll pay for a single item is roughly $17 including appetizers. I know with upgrades comes cost and I don’t mind paying a bit more for the same great food they’ve served previously. But when we ordered our calamari it was much different from what we were used to. We had picked out a couple salads we were going to try that sounded okay but after seeing how the calamari was we decided not to spend anything more and chance the salads would be just as bad considering they’re $16 a piece. This was not the same product they were serving before, this looked and tasted like some cheap low quality calamari at a higher price. It’s one thing to charge more for the same product but it’s another thing to charge more for a lesser quality product. The only two things we were satisfied with was the service and the blue cheese that they decided not to skimp out on. We’ve been coming here for years and would make the drive 30 mins away just because of how good the food was. But after today, I will never come back here. Money and costs are important and we are people who get that. But serving terrible food for almost $17 a plate...

Disappointed on July 23rd Our party of four adults arrived at 5:30 having made reservations earlier in the day. We were seated promptly in the half-filled dining room. It took a few minutes for our waiter to come greet us and take our drink order. After returning with them, we did not see him again for 20 minutes! Once having placed our order, however, our food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The kitchen did fine on half the entrees. My Philly cheese steak was good along with a friend's "Apple of my Eye" sandwich. My wife's pulled pork was described as being served on a hard roll; it was not. It came on a generic, grocery-store burger bun. A minor let-down. Another friend requested her broccoli to be well-cooked-the first batch was pretty much raw. She waited for her vegetable throughout the entire meal. Even after being assured twice-by two different servers- that it would be out in "30 seconds" it was not served to her until three of us were finished eating and had our plates cleared from the table! Our waiter never checked back to inquire about our food (as most should shortly after being served) and never came back to refill our table's drinks. The whole dining experience took too long-90 minutes for sandwiches. (To ad insult to injury: two scantily dressed women flitting from table to table to promote a beverage.) Overall a big disappointment, which is a shame because there is a need for great tasting food, good service and reasonable prices on the west side...

Party of 3 we placed our order and waitied an hour for our food the server never checked in or refilled drinks. After I flagged her down suddenly the food gets delivered. Only problem is my son's pizza is cold slop on a plate. My wife's Ruben didn't have sourkruat on it and it was cold. The wings weren't crispy. When we tried to communicate our dissatisfaction the waitress was rude said it wasn't her problem she doesn't work in the kitchen when I pointed out while you don't work in the kitchen you could have updated or checked in on your clients at all which you did not. She said " I'll just comp the bill ... im not going to be yelled at" (no one had raised their voices) and then she walked away... as we are leaving I tried to get a gentlemens attention who seated us and i start to tell him we had a problem and he kept walking away as well. We live locally and have been to your establishment many times the food has always been good. But after our experience today we will never step foot in your restaurant again we have never been spoken to by any waitresses this way before and if yours are allowed to behave this way then I'm sure we won't be alone. I only write this because if I owned a business and behavior like this is going on then I would want to know so I can...
