EDIT: Went to SeaGuini for lunch to give them a chance to redeem themselves after the initial 1 star incident below. While I won't get that birthday back and the experience can't be undone (-1 star), we are very grateful to Justin, Christina, and our server, Katie and team, whom did a wonderful job and provided the experience we'd expect and are accustomed to when dining here. We felt much more welcomed and taken care of, along with our concerns being heard; the compensation exceeded expectations and restored our view of one of the best restaurants in the area. If you've encountered a similar scenario with a poor outcome, my SO and I strongly recommend giving them the opportunity to correct it. You can tell this is a team of people who truly care about their diners' experience. I have stayed at Opal Sands multiple times over the years, and eaten at SeaGuini minimum 2-3 times each trip--it's one of the key components in why I travel from out of state to stay at this location. This recent trip is the longest stint at Opal Sands thus far, and on the third visit to SeaGuini during our stay, the service was absolutely appalling. My SO made a dinner reservation for my birthday--both noted on the reservation and mentioned to our waiter. I have spent three birthdays here and it was THE LEAST special by far. Our waiter, Chris, couldn't have made it clearer that our presence was a nuisance, setting the tone for the entire meal. Normally I'd chalk it up to him having an off day, but considering he spent much more time engaged and conversing with the only other two tables he had and that were sat after us...no. Brenden(?) who was watching tables and keeping an eye on waters, etc. did a far superior job and even offered to box up our food after we'd been waiting for 10mins for our MIA waiter. By the end, we just wanted our check so we could leave, which was further delayed by the gall of said waiter bringing us dessert menus...as if the whole experience hadn't already been less than subpar. Even the 'Happy Anniversary' dessert that was brought at the end felt like an afterthought/cya. Confused? Yea, us too. Apparently briefly glossing over "anniversary" during order taking vs multiple mentions of my birthday is too complex to recall what the celebrated occasion is. We still have multiple days left in our vacation, can't say we'll be returning to SeaGuini. FYI Chris, I don't need you to be my best friend, but SOME personability is required in the serving industry. If you treat guests like second-class citizens or that your tip is going to be lacking based on their order, consider your...
Read moreSeaGuini is a beautiful restaurant that we looked forward to trying. We experienced an unfortunate series of events during our time at SeaGuini . We were seated at a tall table directly across from the bar, not knowing that this was the route that all servers and customers walked to get to the other side of the restaurant. We spent the majority of our visit waiting. Our bar order of a glass of wine and a martini took way too long. Most certainly a management issue. If the current staffing level can't keep up with orders, fix it. Customers are less likely to be antsy about waiting if they have a drink in their hand. Appetizers were delicious when they finally arrived. This was our first glimpse of how slow kitchen orders were. We ordered our entrees when the appetizers arrived. Two tables near ours were seated after us, but ordered, ate and left before our entrees arrived. In fact, our entrees were still not at our table after we had occupied the table for over one hour. Totally unacceptable, and a management issue. Someone is not managing that kitchen. Actually, no one is managing the restaurant as it should be. We witnessed a man walk in past the hostess to stand at the bar right next to our table and visit with folks for over 25 minutes...countless wait staff and assistants walking past him....and he was BAREFOOT. In a restaurant like this with no shoes on and that went unnoticed by every employee there? My husband and I had enough. At the 65 min mark, we decided we were leaving. Our server was horrified and apologetic that we were so unhappy. We told her to send our food to our room. The Manager happened to be standing in the aisle as we were walking out. I told him that we were not waiting any longer for entrees because the kitchen was so slow. I told him that we wanted our food sent to our room and that it had better be hot. I also told him about the barefoot customer at the bar and all he could comment on was that he didn't see that. He said if he had seen it he would have had him leave. No one on the staff noticed it, either. How is that possible? Our food was sent to our room. It was hot, as I requested. They added two desserts and all was sent without a charge. A nice gesture that is appreciated, but not at all necessary. Just make sure that your future customers are treated well with good food, delivered in a reasonable amount of time and that your bar gets drinks out quickly. Seaguini let us down on all counts last night. No one should have to lower their expectations when paying over $600/night for...
Read moreMy husband brought me to SeaGuini to celebrate my 51st birthday last night. He made reservations two weeks prior to our evening out. He had surprised me with a weekend away & didn't share any of the details until we arrived at the beach. Upon arrival, we we greeted at the hostess stand and talked about the amazing food with one of the hostesses. We were looking forward to a delicious dinner and a intimate dining experience. She then told us our table was ready. We followed her a few feet into the restaurant & she seated us at a high top table next to the loud bar. This was not the atmosphere I had anticipated. As I was trying to climb into my seat, I'm 5'2, with a dress and I knocked the table and spilt my water glass. As our waiter arrived I kindly requested another table not a high top. He said let me see what I can do. He arrived back and stated all the tables were being used for reservations. I tried desperately to ignore the uncomfortable table and loud atmosphere. Our waiter took our order. Unfortunately, I couldn't relax enough to really have a chance to explore the menu. I ordered the quickest item I could find. We skipped cocktails & appetizers because at this point I really just wanted to leave. Our waiter must of seen how truly disappointed I was and then tried to rectify the situation & moved us to a regular table next to the high top we were sitting at. At this point it was to late. He then mentioned how I was to receive a "free" dessert for my birthday. Sea Guini you missed the point. We quickly ate our dinner & left extremely disappointed. I own a food prep business. I pay attention to every detail and go the extra mile for each one of my clients. Last night was such a huge disappointment. My husband and I have very busy schedules and rarely spend time together. Our waiter came back with our "free" dessert. It would of been nice to have seen the dessert menu & to pick which one I would of liked. At this point point I belive our waiter just wanted us gone. My husband ate most of it. This awful dining experience set the tone for the rest of the evening. We went back to our hotel popped a bag of microwave popcorn and had our intimate dinner and watched a movie. Enjoying a night out is so much more than just the food. Unfortunately you missed the mark by a mile. We will not be back to your establishment...
