The Boxer — Restaurant in Clearwater

Would have given 5, if i didn't go back in later. Chelsea was our waitress. And Chelsea was good NOT great. She did almost everything possible and took FOREVER doing it. Our bill for round 1 was 34 bucks. My husband gave Chelsea 100 bucks and asked for 50 back. I got that 50 when i met her at the door to leave. I counted it. It was 50. Few hours goes by we decided to eat there again. We walk in and try to get Chelsea's attention. She gets right up in my husbands face and said you didn't tip me. Then ran into the bathroom. Comes back out and continues getting in my husbands face about the tip. And we realize at this point she's drunk. She continues to argue that she gave us the correct amout of change back. Both my husband and I have been waiters and bartenders. If someone tells you to bring a glass of water, you do it. So why wouldn't you bring just a 50 back? And why wouldn't you confront the person that had to WAIT for the change instead of the one that got tired of waiting? At that point security was involved because we were both trying to explain how the tip worked out, and to be honest it probably looked different to them. But my suggestion to management. Obviously thia young girl was drunk and in uniform. Maybe if the uniforms were more than just. T-shirts and leggings by Kate Hudson they would take their jobs a bit more seriously and act a bit more professional. And I did count 50 for my change. So was she trying to get more? Or did she screw up on other tables and was trying to get a little more from us to make up her night? The world will never know. Did give a couple of stars for the boxer balls they were good. But lost stars for Chelsea's behavior and the fact that she told us she didn't have the beer which we received at our 2nd visit. Some girls DO NOT BELONG IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY!!! Despite the upbeat looking atmosphere from the curb, this tops the worst restaurant/sports bars I have ever eaten at.

Upon walking through the door I was told to sit anywhere. This sports bar seems like it could easily seat over 100 people and still have plenty of room. During my experience there were no more than 15 other people, most of which were already served. I sat down to order. It took well over 15 minutes just to be acknowledged, despite a table of two sitting right next to me. The waitress continued to turn her back as to intentionally ignore me. When I stood up to leave I was finally greeted. The table was covered in sand but due to the location it was not an issue What was an issue is after I asked for a napkin the waitress proceed to wipe the table. The final wipe was directly toward me covering my lap in the sand which was previously on the table. I then ordered one of the easiest thing on the menu, a burger.

When brought out it looked as though the burger was assembled on water. When I picked it up the soggy bottom bun folded around my thumb before ripping apart and splattering on my plate. For the cost of $11.95, I was unsure exactly what I was paying for, bad service or the horrible food.

Within an hour of leaving, my stomach began turning and I spent the next 5 hours drinking Pepto.

I have no idea how this place has 4 stars, maybe the beer was cold. I would not recommend this...

We had a very bad beginning experience with the servers at The Boxer. However finished with a great experience from the bartenders. We frequent Clearwater due to my daughter having chemo treatments at all children’s. The owner of Tropical Mokes recommended the boxer, so I took my 5 children and daughter in law to eat. We sat at a table and were not greeted by a server. Thinking maybe we need to go to the bar, no problem, we walked to the bar. The bartender said “I can get you a server, give me a second” As me and my daughter in law are standing there waiting we hear him ask the 2 servers if one wants to take care of us. (They were not busy at all) We then hear one of them arguing that she did come ask and that we then went to the bar and running her mouth and on and on. The bartender then looked at us and said he would take care of us. He did a phenomenal job and we watched him all night helping servers take food to their tables making sure he did their drinks quickly and so on. The severs never once carried any food out for him and he still continued to be a team player! Jose is someone any business owner should want on their team! There was also a second bartender that asked if we needed anything. I did not catch his name but thank you! The servers never said a word. Not an apology…. Not even a smile when walking by….. would have left had it not been...
