Iām new to the Cleburne area and have been on the hunt for a new go-to coffee spot. After hearing about this place a few times, I finally decided to stop in and try it out. The coffee was great, but unfortunately, a few things made me rethink about going back at all.
First off, the customer service. One of the baristas, Tammy, had a nasty attitude. She came to the register while still on her phone, didnāt acknowledge me right away, and just didnāt seem interested in being there. I felt like I was bothering her with basic questions. Luckily, the other barista started my drink right away, and even thanked me a few times as I was leaving.
Also, it was kind of disappointing that the first two drinks I tried to order were out of stockāsome syrups were missing and even the plain black coffee I wanted to bring home for my husband wasnāt available. Tammy even had the nerve to loudly explain that her manager doesnāt care about this location or the workers!
On the bright side, the space is very cute. Thereās a kid-friendly area with a chalkboard, a painted mural on the wall, and a helpful coffee guide painted up too. I love the atmosphere, and the coffee really was good, but between the service from that girl, the food, and them being out of so many things, Iām not sure Iāll be back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI shouldn't feel like an inconvenience to a barista, but on 7/27/25 (she was my only interaction, but there were two girls working) she just stared at my face, wouldn't speak, and made it an uncomfortable situation. Basic customer service skills would be lovely, you know, when you work in said setting. I don't want to have a full blown conversation with you, I just shouldn't have to sit there awkwardly while you just stand there and stare me, don't acknowledge me, and are helpful in zero ways. I had a few questions, but chose a random drink (which was delicious, thankfully) and couldn't wait to leave because it was so awkward I didn't even ask my questions. She really made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. I actually wanted to pay cash and couldn't because she flipped her little screen and walked away as soon as she put my drink in. I'm sure she was glad I left so she could get back to leaning on the counter and blankly staring at customers with her airpod in. Here's to hoping not too many people like myself who simply wanted to have a pleasant experience buying coffee came in to ruin her work day. I'm glad the coffee was amazing because the experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read more5 stars does not do this place its justice! In such a small town, this is truly a gem. I came here an hour before closing, not as busy considering the day it was but nonetheless felt really comfortable. As someone who was visiting out of state, this was some of the best coffee in Texas and the service was really great! There were two ladies that were behind the counter serving me, Kammy and Tabitha, and they both were super friendly! Attentive to the details, Kammy was able to quickly get my order down quickly and made my drink exceptionally while her coworker was serving another customer. She offered alternatives to my initial order due to them not having them, and made me not regret any choice! Really sweet work staff that works efficiently and swiftly! ā The interior of the place is super cool too, the wall designs and seating made it feel very comforting.
All in all, Mug on the Square feels like an experience rather than your average coffee shop. Alongside the great staff that operate the store, this is the place to get all your...
